Re: RIP Gene Wilder
You have the newer version of the Chocolate Factory now, but the old one still crops up now and again.
Re: RIP Gene Wilder
the original is miles better apparently..
Re: RIP Gene Wilder
Having seen them both, I found the later one quite sinister. It was well done though.
Re: RIP Gene Wilder
I thinl I'll prefer Gene's version better..
Re: RIP Gene Wilder
The second one was tailored for a slightly different audience. The effects were better for a start.

Re: RIP Gene Wilder
How can you watch a film over and over again, T? A couple of times, maybe .... or if there's a long gap in between viewings.
Re: RIP Gene Wilder
I firsst saw that as a little boy ...and was totaly flummmoxed by it ...
now older and more intelligent I see Mel Brook's and the wonderful performances of the actors humour come sparkling through , anyone taking the piss out of the Nazis has to be a good thing..

Re: RIP Gene Wilder
Ordinary Brits made a very good job of that during WW2. Their bawdy ballads continue to this day, and when radio broadcasts were made, supposedly to strike terror into the hearts of folk, people laughed at them and they had little effect.
Re: RIP Gene Wilder
Me too. It's typically British, but what's seen us through battles and hardships for hundreds of years.
Re: RIP Gene Wilder
