No wonder I hadn't heard it then, although that doesn't necessarily follow. I've heard quite a lot of punk stuff from the 70's, although I wasn't around to enjoy it.

Ooh dear, now I've got to think! Oh blimey T, I can't think of a top 5, but here's a few that I can think of which I like, and apologies if I don't get the title exactly right.

The Clash - I Fought the Law.
The Damned - New Rose and So Messed Up.
The Ruts - Babylon's Burning and Jah War/s (?).
The Stranglers - quite a few, but No More Heroes was excellent.
UK Subs - Warhead.
Angelic Upstarts - Teenage Warning and The Murder of Liddle Towers.
Billy Idol - Rebel Yell.
Ian Drury - most of what he did.
Rich Kids - Rich Kids.
A few Pistols ones.

Blimey .... there are more, but I can't think. It seemed to be such an exciting era.

I know. The song's cr*p, but Tom's a weird but interesting person. I've read about his strange life. He'd get stoned out of his head and then go and visit sauna's where he had some rather ... different encounters. He said he married a girl biker and they have 2 children together, but TR's not actually gay, as such, but rather bisexual - not that it matters much. He's still had plenty of gay experiences, and I'd have thought that he was a somewhat risky partner to have. : (

Wiv an accent like that? Arch - he was born in Cambridge, and lived in Kent. He's not Scottish - and neither can he try to downgrade his poshness (he went to a private school) by talking in that very strong London accent.

Not purposely, T. We now have a conundrum .......

"Tom" Robinson (born 1 June 1950) is a British Bisexual singer-songwriter, bassist, radio presenter and long-time LGBT Rights Activist, best known for the hits "Glad to Be Gay", "2-4-6-8 Motorway", and "Don't Take No for an Answer", with his Tom Robinson Band. He later peaked at No. 6 in the UK Singles Chart with his solo single "War Baby".

Tom Robinson was born into a middle-class family in Cambridge on 1 June 1950. He attended Friends' School, Saffron Walden, a co-ed privately funded Quaker school, between 1961 and 1967. Robinson has two brothers and a sister: Matthew (former executive producer of BBC One's EastEnders and Byker Grove, currently running Khmer Mekong Films in Cambodia), George and Sophy.

So ........
