part of the village of Setenil de las Bodegas in spain has been built under cliffs that hang over the houses and streets. people have been living there for ever, yet I could possibly manage a brief, very brief visit. just looking at the pictures made me uncomfortable.
I can see what you mean. If the cliffs gave way or crumbled, there wouldn't be much left of what's been built beneath all the tonnage, so yes, it'd bother me a bit, and yet I've been in some caves which were used as homes, and thought they were lovely.

Quite a few people live in homes which've been hewn into rock, and no one seems to mind. I suppose you get used to it, just as you'd get used to living in one near the edge of a cliff.
There's a house a few miles from us which's half built of stone, and the other half goes back into a rock face.
