Re: Major Announcement

The little mouse I bought for the Netbook was wireless and it worked great. It also had a switch to turn it off. One thing I like about it was the receiver was stored inside the mouse until needed. That too was a great feature.

I'm glad you like your new speakers!

Re: Major Announcement

On my Logitech wireless, if it has sat for only a few seconds, it goes to sleep, and the first time I hit a button, a green light shows me it came on, but it doesn't register that click at all. Now the little normal meeces don't seem to turn themselves off at all. Eons ago, I had a five-button mouse...

Re: Excess Deaths

Or you could win one of the smaller payouts when some of the numbers line up just right. I hear ya! Unfortunately, the ODDS are STACKED Against Us, hi hi. We played penny ante poker when I worked at Sverdrup & Parcel. They made us take a full hour lunch each day. At the end of like 3-1/2 years o...

Re: Excess Deaths

It is very easy to get addicted to gambling. Even the things you know you can't possibly win or ever come out even. I would save up some money for entertainment, and on rare occasions that entertainment was a casino. I would play some slots until I had enough extra money to go play some other games....

Re: Major Announcement

The meeces I've used for over 20 years now are all Thumball Mice by Logitech, and hardwired. They fit my hand perfectly, and seem to last for over a decade each. The left button eventually starts double-clicking. The new wireless Thumball from Logitech is slightly smaller and lower. It has many prob...

Re: Major Announcement

As much as it costs to design and have a new mold made for making the plastic parts. It doesn't even make sense for them to change the design, when they had a perfect one to start with. It could not be because they needed more room for the electronics, as the new one is smaller in both height and wi...

Re: Excess Deaths

I never went very often, maybe once every 2 or 3 years is all. But one time, I guessed the Tri-Fecta right. Had all three tickets, but unfortunately, not the Tri-Fecta ticket, hi hi. I still came home with more than double the amount of money I went there with, so it was still a good day. But it did...

Re: Excess Deaths

Even on the race track, you starting position plays a huge role in whether or not you even stand a chance. That's one of the reasons I switched to figure-8 racing. It draws a larger crowd and pays a higher purse. They usually have a demolition race at the same time, later on in the day, so the crowd...

Re: Major Announcement

I had a surround sound system at my old house back home. It didn't get used much, so it went in the auction with everything else. I used to buy Logitech almost exclusively, they used to make some really great stuff. However, the last couple of things I got from them, I consider cheap design and poor...

Re: Major Announcement

We even have semi-smart water meters now. All they have to do is drive by and it records our water usage. But the electric sends the info over the power lines. We don't have gas here. I used enough added electricity, they came and checked me out. But I just had normal garden and houseplants. I'm sti...

Re: Excess Deaths

Mine started out like crickets in a cornfield. Then progressed through the buzz and whistle stages, and now is just noise. When I have the chance to just lay back and rest, I put my feet up on top of stool, instead of the hassock. I used to enjoy going to the races. My cousin and I went a couple of ...

Re: Excess Deaths

On my harnesses, the lap belt was wide, and it was mounted to the floor of the car at an angle slightly different than production cars, there's no way you could slide down under that thing. Both of mine, the shoulder harnesses came down from the roll cage, not from the wall of the vehicle like the f...

Re: Major Announcement

Unless they were crazy expensive, I would keep the new ones, and use the old ones on another older computer. We have smart electric meters. All they do is report usage to their computers so they can bill you without sending a reader out. I don't think they can turn your electric on and off from them...

Re: Major Announcement

I don't know much about computer sound equipment anymore. I rarely if ever have audio turned on these days. Use the new speakers! I've bought new things and by the time I needed them, they went bad from not being used. We get packages delivered by USPS every day of the week, not just Sunday's, unles...

Re: Excess Deaths

I worked for a company for only a few months. Gyromatic Safety Controls. They originally made a trunk mounted device to keep cars from fishtailing. In later years, It became a hidden safety item installed in many new cars, especially the early FWD cars who's super light back ends could swing around ...

Re: Excess Deaths

I don't remember off the top of my head, but some of the batteries I used to buy, high-end batteries, all showed the mAh on them. One was the Kodak branded batteries, the expensive versions, hi hi. It is true that the cars now have crumple zones, and most have had since the late '70s or early '80s. ...

Re: Major Announcement

I just have a few el cheapo speakers, most came with early computers, they all work. The only one that gives me trouble is the pair I bought for listening to music. Before I moved south, I used to listen to a lot of music, and tapped my audio card from the computer out to my stereo system. Loved the...

She did turn in her two weeks notice, a couple of days before the truck came to check-out as a drive through, hi hi. Those pinwheels let me understand more about that AC and how it operates. Not like your normal AC unit. I have a box on the AC to direct the cold air down onto the banks of computers....

Re: Excess Deaths

They make batteries in many different ways, so the mAh on them has to be different on different types. Even among the Alkaline batteries, some will last for a week, some will last for a month. I used to count how many times I could use my flash camera on a set of batteries, and I'll tell you, the br...

Re: Excess Deaths

I still see one heck of a lot of pre-war cars around this neck of the woods, and tons up to the 1950s. The metal in cars today, what little of it there is, is treated with rust proofing, where the old cars were not. My old '46 Ford I rolled down a hill that was too steep, in never got a dent in it, ...
