Re: WWW Code For Sale as NFT

I just read this morning something similar, but it only had to do with electronic images of an artists work of art. In a way similar to numbered Lithographs, each copy of the original has an embedded signature in the image. If you make a copy of that image, that signature would either disappear, be ...

Re: Non-Fungible Tokens

Although only about 9% of our plastic waste is taken to recyclers. There are a few recycling places who sort out the plastics, while others grind it all together and let the major plastics recycle them in their density towers. One place I read about uses both towers and things like a refinery uses t...

Re: Reeading on Easter Morning

I do know that hackers hit Windows machines simply because there are so many of them out there in use, compared to only a few Linux based machines. All of my Linux machines use three passwords. One for Root, one for Admin, and one for User. While Windows always only had one password. Plus Windows pu...

Re: Memories Are Made of This

I imagine the Pachinko Parlors didn't really care if the balls from different Parlors got mixed in with theirs. But I'm sure they watched for unmarked ball bearings being used! Parlors treated their balls about like Casino's treat their Poker Chips, you can never buy them at a discount, hi hi. I los...

Re: UPS Test

It's been so many years ago, and in my case more like 3 lifetimes ago. I had an interesting life for like 14 years. Changed gears for only like 3 years and lived another life with different interests. Then once again changed gears to yet another interesting life for 20 years. And now I'm in yet anot...

Re: Reeading on Easter Morning

It just sounds to me like Windows is trying their best to keep hold of the desktop market and making it even harder for any other competition. Seems to me, it would be up to the board manufacturers to make their bios programs more hackproof, if that is where hackers are getting in now. Although any ...

Re: Non-Fungible Tokens

There is a place here that takes any type of computer board, or who computers for recycling. But they only pay like 10 bucks for a computer, 3 bucks for a cell phone, and a buck for old slot cards if that, sometimes it is only a quarter for each one. They've been there as long as I've lived down her...

Re: Memories Are Made of This

Japan was loaded with pachinko parlors, which is where most of the machines came from.
So it is only logical that the balls they sold to use in them came from all those casinos also.
People bought those steel balls like we buy poker chips at a casino.

Re: UPS Test

Yeppers, I think you are right, I used it at the flower shop on the Apple II+ and on the Lisa System, but once we got the WANG VS system, they provided all the programs we used plus many more. But I thought I was still using it on the PCs in later years too, when I was doing the tri-folds and flyers...

Re: Non-Fungible Tokens

Maybe they want it to fill up like a lake so they can raise the property values, and TAXES, around it, hi hi. I think I mentioned a couple of major recycling centers I visited a number of years ago. The kind of place where garbage trucks back up and dump onto conveyors. Nearly everything dumped ther...

Re: Reeading on Easter Morning

You must have been trying RedHat or spinoffs of them. None of their repositories had a package manager. I think BSD was the first to come up with a package manager, followed by Debian, and then RPM. I think Linux Mint has the best package manager, even though it uses Ubuntu derived Deb packages. A p...

Hmm, the PageMaker program we had, although it could be used as a text editor and graphics location on a page easily enough. It's primary purpose was to organize individual pages into a book format for printing two sided pages. If you were sending it out to a printing company, it would adjust for ho...

Re: Memories Are Made of This

The types of pinballs they had in bars back then were for gambling. If you recall it was a long board filled with holes for the balls to drop in. You could build the odds up by dropping more and more nickels in them before taking your shot. I too played those when my dad took me to the tavern with h...

Re: Reeading on Easter Morning

Most of the major programs for Linux machines, if they are not in the repositories for one reason or another, you can go to the maker and select a version for your type of architecture. And then to make sure it gets updated you can add them to your repository list. I thought ms said Windows 10 would...

Re: Non-Fungible Tokens

I'm glad you scrolled down and saw all that is involved in maintaining a landfill. As you can see, they are built up layer by layer now, done in sections, to give the older covered up stuff time to settle. Champ's is a high-tech landfill place, quite a bit different than the one I took junk too wher...

Re: Memories Are Made of This

Williams and Gotlieb made the best pinballs, followed by Stern and a few others. After Bally and Williams merged, the quality took a nosedive, all the way down to the quality of Stern pinballs. Ironic though, Stern is still in the business of making pinballs, or were a couple of years ago, haven't c...

Re: UPS Test

Wow, I used Page Maker for years! My original version came from Aldus, but the upgrades and a new version came from Adobe. The Aldus version worked perfectly, but after Adobe got hold of it, they messed it up. It worked great for making the tri-folds and other advertising brochures I did. I think af...

Re: Non-Fungible Tokens

Here is something I think you will be interested in regarding landfills. Here is one in Maryland Heights, MO, very close to where I lived for 20 years. They also do a ton of recycling as well. Scroll down the row of images on the left and you'll see the cliffs which borders both sides of it. https:/...

Re: Reeading on Easter Morning

Well, by using a repository, you know everything is tested to work with that Distro. But you do have choices between Stable, Non-stable, Testing, and Stable non-free, etc. I only use Stable repositories. Linux Mint uses Ubuntu's repositories. Debian uses it's own repositories. Most small Distro's us...
