Hear one, think on the other one...

It happens to me that there are two songs, mostly released within months of each other, that make me think of the other song every time I hear any of them on the radio. Duran Duran - Come Undone, 1993. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Epj84QVw2rc Caló - Formas de Amor, 1994. https://www.youtube.com/w...

Re: Guess Where I Was Today

Reading what is being posted here makes me realize how little of the world I've see first hand. Perhaps I forgot a lot of what I did, but I do know my family did not travel much. I can claim to have traversed the Continental Divide. We did it on the trip I took with my neighbor when I was about 16 ...

Re: This may be the clearest evening in two months...

Ocassionally the Jet Stream drifts south to this latitude, Maybe an late december or early January, as in this Valley the winds flow mainly from the Northwest along the Continental Divide or from the Northeast from the only non mountanous way from the Gulf. I've looked temperature patterns and the t...

Re: Guess Where I Was Today

There were originally two main roads going north that are considered part of the Panamerican highway. The oldest one is the Mexico - Laredo, the Federal 85, paved first in the late 20's. It is still mantained but is not the main one to the US, from Monterrey to the south the Monterrey - Saltillo par...

It mixes all, but the humidity from the South Pacific has to overcome the Continental Divide, the easiest for it to the Gulf of Mexico is over the Tehuantepec ithsmus, that is just 200 km wide and up to 250 or so meters asl. Over here at the confluence of the Sierras Madre and the Neovolcanic axis t...

Re: Guess Where I Was Today

The comments on Route 66 made me wonder about all the changes our countries have passed... Historical roads that conformed the way our societies were built. It makes me wonder how it took this long for us as societies to recognize that we can preserve our heritage while building our future.

Re: This may be the clearest evening in two months...

I came to realize thet the three of us, you Gary, you Denis, and me, are under the influence of mostly the same weather patterns owing to the fact that we are in the Gulf of Mexico basin, you on the Missisipi river basin and me in the Panuco river basin. Most of our winds and humidity come from the ...

Fortunatelly seeing kept somewhat good, so I was limited to the Moon and a few doubles As of the time I'm posting this we are clouded out. I'll post what I recorder soon. Yep, my newtonian...

This may be the clearest evening in two months...

They wete talking about the arrival to the continent of dry air and sand from the Sahara lately, so I was hoping for a clear day anytime this week. As you see, evening twilight doesn't show too much dust. So, I'm trying a couple things with the 3 incher and the unaluminized short 5 incher. Read you ...

Re: Guess Where I Was Today

Yep, places change with us... Even when some of us don't move around much during our lives, our interests and necesities change with time, so that our surroundings are changing even when it's not instantly noticeable. That's some of the price we pay to "keep current". And the price the one...

~Juan First of all I want you to know that on this website daydreaming with your words is acceptable and encouraged. At one time a large part of the American economy depended on the automobile industry. Manufacturing cars involved many industries so that the economics behind building auto...

When defining VM's we can specify if we want to share a folder from the host OS on the HD with the VM, that may be the other weak point, but it's lockable. For old hardware that is not supported by curent OS but that is used for particular needs, this is how replacement can be dodged.

Re: Guess Where I Was Today

It's understandable that a 50 km per leg car trip may not be taken as something to do frequently, just occasionally... Many of us foreigners have the impression, perpetueted by US media, of a car centric culture and way of living, and many times we don't stop to think that, in a way, most people beh...

Re: WWW Code For Sale as NFT

Something remarkable happened while I was typing this response to you. I'm using a Firefox browser clone called Waterfox. I like it because it's light weight. I had all the above typed out neatly and was getting ready to submit when I accidentally closed the browser. Since I do not have it set to r...

Re: Non-Fungible Tokens

More amazing would be life in Mexico City. The topology of the land there is diverse, but best of all is that it is 7000+ feet above sea level. I can only imagine how spectacular the views must be over there. There's a site for that, apart from Google. They have links to live webcams in many points...

Re: Non-Fungible Tokens

Although only about 9% of our plastic waste is taken to recyclers. There are a few recycling places who sort out the plastics, while others grind it all together and let the major plastics recycle them in their density towers. One place I read about uses both towers and things like a refinery uses ...

I remember having set up several OS's on Vmware under win 7... Even have a portable VirtualBox setup in a portable HD, also with several OS's... Dennis, I just went around on Google maps around the Saint Louis area, and my first impression, based on too few data, is that, although is generously greeen, maybe I am too used to what I see daily around here in terms of hills and landscape... Anyway, I'm no one to object what I don't really know.

Re: Memories Are Made of This

I have memories of playing pinball when my age was in the single digits. It was a diversion while the adults spent time imbibing at the bar. Now that I think about it, it probably would be illegal today to bring your kids to the local pub to play pinball. By the time I was a teenager my pinball day...
