gardening... on hold

Post by pilvikki »

we woke up to a snow storm... 2" on the ground, but of course, it was gone by 10...

it looked very pretty, especially in the morning in a blue light.

My daughter, who used to live a mile or two away from me, sent some pictures of the snow that fell upon the Chicago area overnight. It was about 12 inches and they were expecting 3 more. It should all melt by ... the end of March.

yeah, love the "snow storms" around here. that was the first for the year, and typically, the schools were half empty. schools are out 2 weeks from next week, i'd like to take the kids up to andorra to play in proper snow. i think they'd quite like that.

here's a picture of that morning, complete with the blue light that is your serving of daylight up in lapland (minus the outside light, of course) supposed to snow again in the morning... we'll see...

i find those knobby trees so disturbing, but that's how they prune them. i'll take pictures in the summer when they look quite different. and i'm not entirely convinced sir gardener knows what he's doing, them being so uneven... but since i'm not going to do them myself, i'll just shut up.

It looks like a bird house hanging from the trees. Do the birds use it during the winter?

that's a bird feeder. you can't see them in the picture, but there's also bird food balls dangling on a string. around 3 pm it gets very busy there.

My neighbor used to hang up beef suet balls for the birds to eat during the winter. Then again, he was a long time farmer. The birds loved the stuff apparently.
