12 Black Dots
Never saw this one before. It's truly amazing.
Re: 12 Black Dots
I like this one because turning your head at a 45 degree angle doesn't help your neurons see properly.
Gotta love optical illusions!

Re: 12 Black Dots
I'm thinking there must be a military application for this
Re: 12 Black Dots
There's more to camouflage net than what meets the eye. One almost cannot focus on it from the sky.
It does more than just make it look like natural ground cover, it also has illusionary aspects.
I don't know about later years, but it was used extensively during the Korean War.

Re: 12 Black Dots
so, how many do you see? i saw 8 at one time, and then i didn't. very baffling.
Re: 12 Black Dots
I can't see more than two at a time ...
During Desert Storm the soldiers wore camouflaged uniforms. I'm pretty sure it was popular during the Viet Nam War as well.

Re: 12 Black Dots
Nam was green camouflage, Desert Storm was beige camouflage.
I never saw any of the overhead netting they used, so don't know if it had the same properties as those used in Korea.

Re: 12 Black Dots
I don't recall much about the netting, but I'd be surprised if it was abandoned altogether. I'm thinking heat seeking guided missals made camouflage obsolete, but I could be wrong about that.

You're probably right Yogi!
All this high-tech stuff has changed how war is played.

Re: 12 Black Dots
Most of it now is played over the Internet, but there are still nut-jobs out there with nuclear weapons.
Re: 12 Black Dots
the logic of "if i big a big a bigger gun, it'll stop anyone from trying to attack me" is just mind boggling.
Re: 12 Black Dots
There is something called Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD), which is the knowledge that neither side will survive a nuclear Holocaust. So far nobody has started a nuclear war because there will be no survivors. Makes sense. However, the nut-jobs I'm thinking of don't care about MAD. Destruction is all they care about. The mind boggle is that less than a handful of people can wipe out 7 billion of the rest of us, depending on how feisty they feel today.
Re: 12 Black Dots
oh yes, the collateral damage. but i still win even if there is nothing left.
i just figured out why i can see so many dots: my eyes tend to go out of focus when i'm tired, lol!

Re: 12 Black Dots
Are you sure it's the dots in the picture you are seeing? Or something entirely different?
