We've had a female plumber and a female electrician come round to our house. If those sort of manual jobs are what they like doing - why not?

Well they drank tea in my kitchen, but I've no idea whether they smoked or not. I know that they did a good clean job.

I don't see why women can't do jobs which were traditionally for men. After all, we have male makeup artists, hairdressers, gynaecologists ......

My mom was a welder, and worked on building large ships during WWII...

Although she didn't do that after the war, her skills sure saved us a lot of money on broken metal toys and a few farming implements.
She even rebuilt a small scooter for me, and a fixed a couple of go-carts, so we could race around the farm.

See? Gender has no bearing on aptitude, and if a woman likes welding, bricklaying or any other building/maintenance work, then they should be encouraged to do it.

If women wish to be involved in sports, whether it's football or weight training, it's up to them. I personally wouldn't like to do either of those, but I enjoyed, and participated in certain sports at school and afterwards. It was only after having the children that I stopped playing badminton. This was due to travelling and time.

But that's just her opinion T, and she's entitled to it. In her days, it probably wasn't "done" for girls to engage in previously male-orientated sports, so they were looked on as a bit weird if that's the right word. I DO think that it emasculates some women, and being a feminine sort, it wouldn't do for me to play football, for example, but I think it's a case of live and let live.
