RIP David Bowie!
Re: RIP David Bowie!
Well first of all, I'm not going to make my father's comments public, and secondly, he has a habit of taking the mickey a bit, but calls it being droll. My mother's always giving him "looks", and that soon shuts him up!

I can't comment on that, but I think that because women do most of the housework, most of the parenting, have to have their minds on a dozen things at once .... that we each have a pattern that we like to adhere to. This can mean everyone else falling in line with it - or else. In some cultures, women make the major decisions about everything. Whatever, if a couple don't share joint responsibility, arguments're going to occur. It's best to try and reach a happy medium. Sometimes the mum's right, sometimes the dad is.
Re: RIP David Bowie!
That depends, T. I wouldn't say that strictly follows. It depends on the subject in question.

Re: RIP David Bowie!
Hadn't heard that before - thanks.
I'm not sure where Mick comes from. Somewhere in Kent I think.

Re: RIP David Bowie!
Oh - thanks. I thought it was that sort of way, but parts of Kent're now classed as London, the same as some parts of Essex, aren't they? Boroughs keep merging into each other, which helps with voting counts, I hear.
Re: RIP David Bowie!
I've no idea..
never really though about it TBH.....

Yes. It's like when my father was working down in Friern Barnet. It was classed as Middlesex at one time. Now it comes under the Greater London borough.
Re: RIP David Bowie!
Thank you, but I don't know that area at all, Arch.
Why be timid about travelling? You can't actually get lost, because all roads lead to SOME place that you've heard of. If you get on a train and don't recognise where you are, just stay on it until it goes back to where you came from.
The best way to become familiar with places, is to visit them. There're loads of coach companies who run day trips up and down the country, and have pick-up points which're usually quite local for most people. You see places on the way, and think: Ah - THAT'S where (so-and-so) is!
