The thought of buying Christmas presents in May is madness.........

No - I said next month (June! LOL). It seemed like madness to ME at first, when I heard that friends were doing it, but now I see the sense in it. For those who don't buy many, or any, presents, it's not easy to see why we do it, but when you have stacks of them to get organised, the sooner you start, the better.
