Lyrics
I was over in Aberdeen
On my way to New Orlean
I was over in Aberdeen
On my way to New Orlean
Them Aberdeen women told me
Will buy my gasoline
Hey, two little women
That I ain't ever seen
They has two little women
That I ain't never seen
These two little women
Just from New Orlean
Ooh, sittin' down in Aberdeen
With New Orlean on my mind
I'm sittin' down in Aberdeen
With New Orlean on my mind
Well, I believe them Aberdeen women
Gonna make me lose my mind, yeah
Aber-deen is my home
But the mens don't want me around
Aberdeen is my home
But the men don't want me around
They know I will take these women
An take them outta town
Listen, you Aberdeen women
You know I ain't got no dime
Oh-oh listen you women
You know'd I ain't got no dime
They been had the po' boy
All up and down.

Re: Booker White
Booker only used three fingers for the chords. Amazing.
Re: Booker White
I heard and seen this guy way back but did not know his name...
thanks to this blues magazine there was an article about him...
this for me is real music...
he must have practiced real hard because he makes it look so easy...top man!

Re: Booker White
Although it's not shown in the videos, Bukka apparently has mastered the slide guitar technique. I've seen it done on electric guitars, but it looks like this guy is prepared to do it on that acoustic model. He has a style that is most unique but I'd bet he didn't go out of his way to learn it. I think it just came naturally to him.
He plays what is called Delta Blues which is foreign to my Chicago Blues ears. When I looked it up I was astounded by the number of blues styles:

Re: Booker White
I'm certain that I can tell there is a difference between a couple of those genres, but I can't see how "the blues" can be divided down into so many categories. What is it that makes each one unique?
A while back I was talking to somebody about "metal" music. Basically I was saying it made my ears bleed. Then he asked what kind of metal and rattled off about a dozen different genres of that style. I asked the same question. Given that it all sounds the same to me what are the distinguishing characteristics that separate them? He just laughed and said it's obvious if you listen to it.
I don't think so.

Re: Booker White
I don't like defining music it's all about personal taste...
Re: Booker White
Music is like wine to me. It's white, red, or a combination. Some of it ages well. Others turn to vinegar.
Re: Booker White
I agree in a way...
there are some songs given so much air time I immediately turn off when I hear them ..like Elvis Suspicious minds or Simon and Garfunkel Bridge over troubled water or Marvin Gaye I eard it through the bovine....

Re: Booker White
Paul Simon is my favorite. I can listen to his replayed music all day long.
Re: Booker White
Graceland is one of my favourite albums of all time but all you hear mostly is Simon and Garfunkel tracks...
We saw Paul live on 'The rhythm of the Saints' tour here in London and it was excellent..
Here is such an astute performer..songwriter...

Re: Booker White
The Graceland album was my introduction to zydeco. I was glad to see the new music from Paul, but a lot of his older recordings are classic.
Re: Booker White
You said it Mister!
'one trick pony' the album is very good it has a lovely jazzy feel...

Re: Booker White
Many years ago I bought an album by Edie Brickell - probably her first one. It wasn't until a few years after that I learned she married Paul Simon

Re: Booker White
Paul and Edie made a great couple. They were both exceptionally talented, but I think Paul was more well known.
