I often wondered why Ray Charles rocked from side to side like that. Was it just for show, or was there a more subtle reason.

I was an avid Elvis fan, but this particular (Guitar Man) song was not one of my favorites.

This Old House brings back memories of a long gone era - I can't recall the last time I saw guys wearing neck ties to dance

Given the "teddy boy:" style, I can see why a bald one would be sad looking. Me thinks Elvis borrowed from this fad.

I followed the sheltered life style. I wasn't all that social when I was younger and didn't follow any particular fad. My hair was short in summer, brush or crew cut; neat and trim in the winter. I might have been mistaken for a "greaser" due to the goop that was popular for hair styles in those days. The hippie movement was big, but I stayed away from those druggies. Although, Arlo Guthrie was among my favorites. So, I guess I was kind of ... nondescript.

I'm a drug free hippy, I hate pointless drugs though a pint of Guiness or beer is most welcome...

I have smoked cigars and pipe tobacco but gave up on alcohol in my mid twenties. Today it's coffee. I suppose at the root they are all addictive drugs in one form or another. Coffee and tea seem to be more socially acceptable than most. I guess you're right. I was a loner of sorts. Must have something to do with being an only child

Mom always said I broke the mold when I was born. Apparently she was right.

Mom bought me a Denny Dimwit doll that rocked from side to side, something like those bobble-head dolls you can still get today. I kept it well into my teens at which time it broke and could not be repaired. They are still available from collectors, but it would not be the same as what mom gave me.
