Sorry T - I couldn't see anything. All I got from the link were lots of snippets from the Guardian. I know he wrote some of the stuff on the Thriller album - which was a good one, in my opinion.

Have you seen where La Toya's expecting her first baby? She's about 50!

Well Rod wrote songs for Michael Jackson, and La Toya's his sister.

Same as you Watson, on the last thread. What's David Cameron got to do with being a murderous soul?

I didn't say that at all Arch - if you read my post properly, I said that Rod wrote songs for Michael Jackson - and that Latoya's his sister - hence why the connection.

Temperton wrote successfully for other musicians, his hits including "Stomp!" for The Brothers Johnson, George Benson's "Give Me the Night", and "Baby, Come to Me" for Patti Austin and James Ingram. He also wrote for Donna Summer, Herbie Hancock, The Manhattan Transfer, Mica Paris, LL Cool J and many others.

So he was obviously a good song writer. Lyrics don't seem too hard to make up, but the music must be.

it made me laugh that he was from Hull!
not known for music legends..

On the popular music scene, in the 1960s, Mick Ronson of the Hull band Rats worked closely with David Bowie and was heavily involved in production of the album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.[161] Ronson later went on to record with Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, Morrissey and the Wildhearts.[161] There is a Mick Ronson Memorial Stage in Queen's Gardens in Hull.[162] The 1960s were also notable for the revival of English folk music, of which the Hull-based quartet, the Watersons were prominent exponents.

In the 1980s, Hull groups such as the Red Guitars, the Housemartins and Everything but the Girl found mainstream success, followed by Kingmaker in the 1990s.[163] Paul Heaton, former member of the Housemartins went on to front the Beautiful South.[164] Another former member of the Housemartins, Norman Cook, now performs as Fatboy Slim
