Homer and Jethro were the stage names of American country music duo Henry D. Haynes (1920–1971) and Kenneth C. Burns (1920–1989), popular from the 1940s through the 1960s on radio and television for their satirical versions of popular songs. Known as the Thinking Man's Hillbillies, they received a Grammy in 1959 and are members of the Country Music Hall of Fame.

I like these boys..

I had to listen to parts of that more than once. It's a cheeky, jaunty song, but yes, entertaining! :thumbu:

Yes, Homer and Jethro were cheeky to say the least. They were not all that popular but did have a certain following. I liked them because they didn't conform to the popular styles of the day. Then again, I was a teenager when they were performing.

I mentioned this song to someone Yogi, and they said they thought it was also known as, or based upon, The Battle of New Orleans?

It's good that you enjoyed some different music, as well. : )

It is indeed a parody of The Battle Of New Orleans. That's the kind of music Homer and Jethro were famous for producing.
