LOL - loved that!

Tomsk - there should be no problem in phoning into work if you're sick. It's when you're lying that it becomes an unpleasant task!! : )

I used to work with a woman who'd start explaining that she had this pain right above her navel and a bit to the right, along with nausea and a headache. i'm like "linda! you're talking to the security guard, NOT the doctor!"

me...

"dehavilland."

"hi! marjaana young, 44452, not coming in today."

"reason?"

"sick. as in sick of the bloody place!"

"ok, i'll put down plain sick then."

and he starts laughing. it was a bit of a risk, some of those guards were total bastards.

the options for the guard to write down were Illness; Transportation and Personal. then you had to hash it out with your boss.

Well if someone's genuinely feeling awful, it's best not to go in, but I've heard dozens of feeble excuses. The best ones got away with it. : )
