Clean Air In Your Home

Post by yogi »

What do all these house plants have in common?
  • Red-edged dracaena (Dracaena marginata)
    Snake plant (Sansevieria)
    Barberton daisy (Gerbera jamesonii)
    Broadleaf Lady Palm (Rhapis excelsa)
    Aloe vera
    Chrysanthemum (Chrysantheium morifolium)
    Spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum)
    English Ivy (Hedera helix)
    Moth orchids (Phalaenopsis spp.)
    Chinese evergreen (Aglaonema modestum)
    Weeping fig (Ficus benjamina)
They all clean the toxicity out of the air in your home. Some of them even leave a healthy dose of oxygen behind.

i'm always hunting down more of those, but then... "oh look, pretty flowers!".... and I toddle off with an African violet or pansies for the outside window ledge.

still, gerberas are pretty, too. but I've never tried growing them inside.

my orchids are in the livingroom and budding, so I don't dare move them now. but 'easy to care for'? I don't think so. :bleh:

I agree with you. I've been misting my orchid with tepid rainwater and giving it orchid feed every so often. The flowers're dying off now, but there're plenty of shoots on the stems, so hopefully the plant'll keep going, although I read that once all the flowers die off, you should put them into a dark place for a while.
