Driving Highway 64

Post by yogi »

I'm impressed by breathtaking vistas and feats of engineering that are exceptional. The folks in Norway are impressing me on both counts. They built a road to connect a string of islands located here:

Dubbed "The Atlantic Road" this five mile long stretch of highway offers some of the most exciting driving scenes you can imagine. I'd love to drive it on a bright and sunny day, but I don't know if they have such things in that part of the world. Does this kind of thing inspire you too?

Never been to Norway, but traveled several routes by video.
Up in Washington State, I drove across a couple long floating bridges back in 1968/9.
Although they didn't normally move around, so you didn't know they were not solid, during a storm which could kick up the waves in the lake, the longest one did rock around a bit.

The vids're awesome. Beautiful scenery, but you're braver than me Yogi. The roads seem dangerous when the ocean whips up, and the one showing the bridge with the steep dip down it .... I couldn't drive along there even on a calm sunny day.

Floating bridges Gary?? I don't know which'd feel the worst for me - those, or having gigantic waves almost knock me off the road. : (

Well I wouldn't drive over that for £10,000! Steer a few inches more to the left or right than you should, and ....... splash!
