Buy Real Passports

Post by yogi »

This was too good to not mention. LOL The admin of this site often receives spam mail. I copied the contents (slightly redacted) of one we received today. It's not the typical phishing message, and I don't doubt anything they are saying. It just goes to show you can get anything you want from the Dark Web:

Interesting. It's not hard to get a real passport, and not very expensive either.
But I guess if you cannot get one legally, you have to turn to ways to get them elsewhere.

I'm forever getting e-mails to webmaster at my website to buy Ray-Ban sunglasses for 20 bucks to resell for 150 bucks, hi hi.

Never got an invite to resell Ray-Ban, which brings up an interesting point. From whence are these bots getting the lead to hit on Brainformation? Some simply cruise by and pick it up that way, but that's not very productive. There was a sudden increase in these types of junk mails after I signed up for the Linux Mint tech support forum and put our site's URL in my profile. The volume increased as I joined other tech support forums and referred to Brainformation. Hmmm. So I went back to every site I am registered with (and which I have a record of such) to change the URL of our landing page to this: https://brainformation.com/indexhp.html The spam has not stopped, obviously, but it is no longer increasing exponentially. Spam bots apparently love to harvest Linux tech support forums.

As far as passports go, it's not the price that makes those sites attractive. In fact I'm betting the buyers pay way more than what you can get it for at the post office. Illegals of all kinds as well as other nefarious types (terrorists) don't get their passports the same way you and I would.

My e-mail address is on all of my websites, but I don't get very many junk mails from them anymore.

I'm a member of several Linux websites and have never got spam from anyone other than their own e-mail notices.

Although I don't have Messenger, Farcebook FORCES their Messenger on us with no way to shut it off.
I've gone for years without much until they started these changes, then all of a sudden I've got THOUSANDS of Messages.
I have to weed through them all to find the ones I expected to get from folks.
I have managed to weed them down quite a bit by sending a blurb to them.
Hopefully before long it will be back to normal.

I knew a guy who sold fake IDs, mostly to teens so they could buy alcohol.
These were not drivers licenses, but State of Missouri Liquor Control Board IDs.
I still have my legally obtained one, hi hi.
He never got caught until he started doing fake drivers licenses, then they nailed him.
He only got two years, plus five years of community service.

You and I obviously live in two parallel but separate virtual universes. LOL

I, like all the other FarceBook users, am forced to own a "Messenger" account. Once in a Blue Moon I'd get a message there, but it was confined to the FarceBook environment. Messenger, being what it is, can also be used outside of FB, but I never do. Not even when they tell me to go there to read a message. If I can't read it on FarceBook, I don't read it. Period. End of Story.

The junk mail to the administrator account here comes from those places which I embedded the link to our site in my profile. I never got much junk mail in the admin account other than Russian robots wanting to sign up. Now, after my Linux Mint, et.al, adventures, I get quite a bit of junk mail addressed to the administrator. All those bots know the default e-mail address to any website. Thus all they have to do is pick out the domain name and add "administrator" to it to begin a spam campaign. I can't tie any of the junk mail to FarceBook, or to any of the numerous other social networks which I currently and formerly have participated in. Junkmail from those social networks arrive at the e-mail address I use to register, which is Hotmail. The combination of Hotmail's filters with those of Thunderbird eliminates virtually all the spam from my inbox. However, the price I pay for that is that I periodically need to go into Hotmail's web site and check their junk mail folder. They frequently filter out legitimate mail which is a pain in the butt.

Regarding the last message about packets. WOW, I should have known all of that was included in the packets themselves.
But it didn't say much about all the separate IP numbers in the string, unless I'm missing something important there.
It was a neat read!

I hate that Messenger and so many websites are adding it now for their own internal messages.
I wonder how far and wide they are shared?

I guess I'm lucky, I don't get very much spam e-mails anymore. Only a couple a day and they go straight to junk.

I did get thousands of friend requests on Farcebook, and all of them use Messenger as a reply area.
Some asked me what I wanted, and I remind them they sent me the friend request, so what did you want, hi hi.

I looked at some rack mounted computers and they are all self-contained, not just motherboards on a shelf like the ones I've seen in person, with a big power supply up in the top of the cabinet, a shelf of hard drives, and of course a KVM to access the different MoBo's.
I also saw the outlandish prices for rack mounted computers too. Crazy.

I did another search looking for low-end equipment that is rack mounted and found some much cheaper stuff, but still way more expensive than it should be.

Saw some 20 to 40U cabinets, all way up there for the big bucks.
Then I saw a cheap 18U glass front door cabinet with two fans and slide in air filter, and it was only like 400 bucks, about 2 grand less than all the rest. Why I don't know. Maybe it was made of tin-foil instead of steel, hi hi.
Gotta watch close, because they will picture a rack on wheels and call it wall mounted.
Saw some smaller desktop units they called racks too.
Saw another thing very odd. Most KVMs are 2, 4, 8, or more ports. What would a 1 port KVM be used for? I know I didn't read it wrong, because I read the blurb three times.

I do think I'm getting the grasp of LAN 1, and LAN 2 going through a WAN.
I sorta did the same thing when I had the Frau on one LAN and my office on a separate LAN, but I could join the two using the Router. Don't remember how I did that exactly. But the WiFi Router was connected to the Main Router.

OK, I'm rambling and the frau is home with lunch.

For the longest time I thought Messenger was a Microsoft invention. For al l know that is correct but I can't recall any Microsoft products that use Messenger. It seems as if I was using it before Facebook grabbed onto it, but that's too far back in the old days for me to recall clearly now. I focused on Yahoo for most of my messaging even back in the Windows 98 days. Anyway, Messenger is owned by Facebook today. You can bet the ranch on the fact that whoever they license it to is required to share data with Facebook. It's often a two way sharing arrangement so that the licensee is getting data they want from Facebook along with use of Messenger. I don't suppose that kind of thing is any different than what Microsoft does when it collects data anonymously. Anybody using Windows is giving Microsoft some information. Thus what Facebook is doing isn't all that unusual.

It's very odd that you would receive thousands of friend requests on Facebook. Some random requests are to be expected. I've had a few Russian bots want to be my friend there and other social networks as well. But those requests are typically low in number. The "what do you want" question sounds like what I've seen on so called dating sites. It's a disguised form of "Hey dude, are you interested in hooking up some time?" While I never was surprised to see those kind of requests, I have often wondered why. The time or two I got carried away the gal eventually asked for money in one form or another. It's not much different than getting those spam e-mails from Nigeria. LOL

The server room at Motorola was close to what you are talking about. Each department had a column of rack space to put in whatever they needed. The basic equipment was standard and the individual components could have been purchased from places like CDW. I'm pretty sure each bay of equipment was custom installed by the owner. The network cabling was somebody else's job. The bay we used was primitive compared to some of the other groups. We had two keyboards (for some reason) and one monitor which was switched to the various servers. The keyboard was not rack mounted as was some of the others I saw in that room. I'm thinking you could simply buy a rack and install the mobo's one by one as you require them. At first it would look like a rack mounted PC, but as you expanded your reach things would pile up quickly. Regardless of how you do it, replacing what you have with rack mounted equipment can't be cheap. It could be fun, however.

Farcebook already had CHAT, but we could turn it off. Even block it with an ad blocker program.
But Messenger is IN YOUR FACE and pops up right over what you are trying to do. Which is really annoying if you are playing a game.

I shot from around 800 friends all the way up to close to 3,000 friends and I had not sent out any friend requests.
I've been slowly unfriending and blocking a few completely.
I though you had to accept a friend request? But apparently some scammers and porn queens found a way around that, and if you get invited to a group, until you decline the invite, while your name us up there, if they friend you on the group they show up as a friend. I've probably unfriended over 500, but it is hard to block them unless you actually type their name into the search bar, then you can get the ability to block.
I told Farcebook I did not approve the friend request on many of them, and never saw a friend request for them.
That's who told me if I belonged to a group and someone in the group friended me, we became friends on Farcebook.
Trouble is, I don't belong to any of those groups. However, I figured out they could friend me before I hit the decline button on an invitation to join the group. Grrr. Farcebook Glitches!
Most of them are from Africa, and most likely Nigeria.

Just out of curiosity, I looked up a power supply to power 8 Mobo's and 16 HDs, since that is how the one I found was rated for handling, plus other things. The MoBo cables were each 6 inches longer than each other starting at 2 feet. The HD cables were bundled into 4 bundles, and each bundle was 6 inches longer, but starting at 4 feet. I assume that means four HDs go on each shelf?
Although I've seen like 12 hard drives on a shelf in some of the pictures and they were mounted standing on their edge.
So I guess you don't have to buy whole rack computers, just racks to hold MoBo's.
I also saw rack mounted, pull out monitors with keyboard, almost like a laptop.
I guess that is mainly for checking servers though.

In a Google Search where it brings up images. I was looking around there and saw something interesting.
It was a computer rack for audio and video work. One of the pictures showed a guys rack and it contained tons of things for changing old technology to new technology. It had a reel to reel tape deck, a VHS cassette deck, DVD recorders like 8 of them all in the same slide inbox. Sound editing stuff for micro-cassettes, normal cassettes, didn't see any 8-track or 4-track though. But those can be run through a reel to reel easily enough. I know, I did it many times to convert my old four track tapes to 8-track tapes. I really don't know what half the stuff he had in that rack was for. But next to it was a huge console like you see at shows for sound and video with microphones and the whole array of paraphernalia.

I also saw a 12 LCD monitor array with less than 1/4 inch strips, only this one did not have the prism covering the frame like one a saw a few months ago. What the prism did was take the image from each side and display it on the flat edge of the prism. Gave the illusion of being one humongous display.

We have a station here that we thought had a billboard sized LCD display. Turns out it was only a frosted plastic screen and a digital projector lit it up from the back. Naturally it belonged to an Oil Company, but also had an occasional ad for Budweiser and Coca-Cola, both were available in their store area. And now that I think about it, it has been off now for a month or more. But then I don't go that way very often, only when I have a doctors appointment or have to go south for some reason. Some of the older Walgreens that had that big curved display area over their door did something similar at a few of them a number of years ago, but then turned them all off. I think they got into trouble for creating a distraction to drivers.

A long, long, time ago in a galaxy far, far away I read an article about taking control of Facebook. I've gone through their settings and permissions and preferences a dozen times, and I'm here to tell you it's a chaotic mess trying to set things up. They deliberately make it complicated to obfuscate what they are trying to do, but the article I read pointed to the most crucial settings for those of us who didn't want to be bugged by their creepy ad tracking and bogus friend requests. The settings panel has changed quite a bit since I read that original article, but I think I still have most of the tracking shut off and allow just about nobody to share anything about me. It took quite a while to figure out the settings and even longer to go back and verify them about once a year. You need to do that because with every update Facebook resets your preferences to their defaults. You don't want the defaults. As you must know I stopped playing with Facebook and that solved a lot of the tracking and bogus friend request problems.

I use Pinterest but can't tell you exactly why. It's an absolutely useless website as far as I'm concerned. The idea there is to create picture albums. That's it. If your pictures appeal to somebody, they might "follow" you and see any new images you upload. The pictures are put into albums that have a theme and a cute little title. Thus, you can follow a specific album and do not need to see all the other images that person uploaded. I keep it in my browser tabs because every so often I look at the gaming computers. There are some very talented people out there who really know how to set up their game room and gaming computers. Most of the time there is no explanation to go with the pictures, but sometimes the poster will upload the image of a document that describes what is going on. I once saw a flow chart kind of document that showed several networks this one guy set up in his home. He had a couple servers running the whole show. It was amazing to see the effort people put into their multi media. Gamers aren't the only crazy ones out there. LOL

Yeppers, every time you get things set the way you want them, Farcebook comes along and messes things up big time.

I had used a few lists, one of them being Friends. That worked until Farcebook decided they wanted to use the word Friends for their own generated list. They completely blew my list to heck by adding hundreds of people I didn't know.
So I went back and made new lists using names they probably wouldn't find useful.
Got everyone back where they belonged, which took a long time.
And now they are forcing a new style on us that did not include Lists.
Although as of this writing they ceded to our demands and put our Lists back. Well, see on September One if they kept them in the top section now.
I think they are pushing folks to use groups and something else I forget the name of. But they don't do what Lists did.
They have also been cutting our Lists short, while making their own lists super long to weed through. grrrr.
They probably can't glean much from lists to resell, but if you join groups, everyone in the group would have like interests and thus become a target for ads associated with what the group is. Which is another reason I don't join groups or like certain pages.
Since I use an ad blocking program to completely block their entire right panel, I don't see the ads, except on their home page where it is not blocked. But the only time I'm on their home page is right after log-on.

I may have had a Pinterest account, but if so, I've not been back in years. I saw it as useless too!
I did have one for sure under my author account where I posted images of each of my books with a link to Amazon book sales where my books are listed. But that's all I remember doing, and this too was years ago, hi hi.

I did join the MeWe social media site a while back, probably under my author name, but it stagnated. Haven't been back there either. No time. I'm usually only on Farcebook to check what the relatives posted and to play Farm Town. I could care less about anything else on there.

MeWe is structured on an interesting base. I like what they are trying to do. Howver, it's a zombie website. I'm not certain that the activity I see there is from actual human beings or from chat bots. There were a ton of Linux special interest groups there and that is the reason why I created an account. I joined one or two of the groups, introduced myself, and watched for several days to see nothing happen. I was not even greeted by a robot for joining the group. I go back from time to time and sure enough, no response to the groups I joined nor is there any interest in the group I created. To be honest I didn't expect my personal group to attract any attention because I know absolutely nobody on that site. Strangers won't even visit to see what it's all about. There were a few other flaky things about them that turned me off. Perhaps there is a trick to getting noticed there. I hope they are happy keeping it a secret if there is.

Facebook lists? Interesting. I don't think I ever seen them and certainly never used them on purpose. There are some things that Facebook populates for me. I think one of the things had to do with Chicago. It was huge whatever it was. I looked at it to see the contents and never went back. They can try to force content on me all they want. My account is bogus to begin with and all they get from me is an occasional "like" of some post from a relative or friend. The Fans of Brainformation page is fairly useless because they want to see a webpage dedicated to Brainformation itself. When that happens they will allow references to the group of fans. Well, I get enough crap without Facebook sending over their piles too. So no Brainformation webpage exists on Facebook and the group I manage there is more or less exclusive. Not a lot of activity there either.

Believe it or not, this website is the only place I visit that is actually active. Well, those Linux forums are as well, but I only go there when I need a good laugh. So that tells you something about the social networks I visit. There are others on which I know I could be more visible. Some are owned by Facebook and others require video to communicate. I don't like either one of those. LOL

I haven't been there in a long time, but if I recall, like Twitter and Farcebook, you won't see anything unless you have friends and they have you as a friend too.
I did check after we talked yesterday, and I'm on there under my author name, and hadn't been there for close to a year since my last visit.

I only belong to a couple groups on Farcebook and both of them are set to private, so what we post never appears on the news feed.
I couldn't use Farcebook without having Lists.
I have a list for Family & Relatives. One for Business Friends. One for Personal Friends, which is the List I have you on.
And a List for New Friends until I figure out where to put them. I'm a little lax on getting some moved.
Now I just put all new ones under Acquaintances which is a Farcebook generated list.
Makes it quicker to go through and see who I need to delete, unfriend, or BLOCK, hi hi.

A long time ago, I had lists named Friends, Family, Relatives, Business, etc.
Then Farcebook decided to create their own lists using some of those names, and they populated it with folks I didn't know. And under Friends they put everybody, even those already in other lists.
Now they put Friend Requests under Friends too, so I never bother to open that one anymore, especially since I get request notifications in their toolbar at the top too.

It seems they wanted to get rid of Lists and make you use Pages, then they pushed Groups, now they are pushing STORIES which I think expire. Me, I just still use my Lists and that's about it. And they always cut the lists short now. Sometimes not showing anybody, just a sign that says Add Friends. And this is when I KNOW there were posts, because I have some folks in two different Lists. So if a post shows in one, it should show in the other as well, but they don't most of the time.

Since most of the writers groups have Pages and Groups on Farcebook, I rarely go to their actual websites anymore. Some of them, if you post on their website, it will appear in their Group and on the main News Feed too.
A while back I had something called RSS and every post made to a website that had RSS feed landed in it. But RSS had no way to organize what went where. So you had no idea which website the post came from, so if you didn't know the persons name, and what website they were on. It was really confusing. When they started popping the messages up over my daily work, I turned of RSS and never looked back.

Apparently there are A LOT of things I don't use on Facebook. The friends list is about all I look at once in a while to remind me who I used to be in contact with. I don't know if that list has grown or shrunk or remained the same. It could have done all three of those things for all I care. I know who has a Facebook account if I need to use that medium to contact them. I just go to their timeline or send a message if I can't get in touch with them any other way. So Facebook can manipulate my lists all they want. More power to them.

At one time I had an RSS feed for this website. It only updated the main category that was a very busy place at one time. I set it up for a friend in Texas who was starting a blog. She wanted some content on her webpage and was a member here. phpBB has the RSS function built into it so that it was pretty easy setting it up. It worked pretty well too, or at lease she never complained about it. I was inspired to install an RSS feed reader on this Win 7 machine. Back in those days everybody had an RSS feed and I got a lot of news in one place because of it. It was better than Twitter in fact. But, alas, Twitter and it's likes took over the RSS portion of the Internet. Those feeds still exist but more than half the ones I had in the reader disappeared. So, I put them all on TweetDeck which isn't the same as reading articles directly. But, Twitter as a news aggregator is better than a feed reader with no feeds. LOL

About the only thing I do is add a link to my browser for those websites I want to read each day.
That is what works best for me!

As far as ME goes, I'm only on Farcebook. but my alter ego, as an author, is on a lot of places where I can promote my books. Not that it does any good, hi hi.

I guess that's one reason why I haven't tried running a business of my own. I'm terrible when it comes to self-promotion. I had only a fair amount of success when I was promoting this site actively. In spite of all my promotional efforts the most effective way to get people to look us over was word of mouth. I was more than good at attracting bots. LOL That's the reason why I made it registration by request. Interestingly since I did that a few months ago we have had two people respond. I didn't think we would get any because it takes some extra effort to tell the admin you want in before you actually register. Neither of the two have posted anything so far, but that's not too unusual for a newbie. I noticed this morning that the software for phpBB has an update waiting to be installed. Hopefully they fixed the CAPCHA so that it now works properly. If so I can open registration to the public again.

It is very hard, especially if you have competition, to get a product or service to the public.

I had to really hustle to get each of my business off the ground and hustle even harder before they became profitable.
But once the ball is rolling and you do build up a list of clients, it will usually keep rolling. Especially if you were able to land commercial accounts, which drew in more individual clients.

I honestly believe the reason my 25 year old product made it, even after being knocked down by a big company selling snake oil, was two-fold. The first being I had zero competition, and the second was a rave impromptu review in a major magazine. This led to it being picked up by several wholesalers to the trade, and then their distributors. After it became necessary for me to get a mfg. rep. to handle them, we went international with sales.
That alone threw a wrench in the gears as there were problems with my product in certain countries. But we were able to correct the problem, and one other minor problem by the 4th generation of the product. It has sold ever since. Only recently has higher tech products came on the scene, and many folks no longer able to afford the expensive hobby did sales begin to decline.

As far as my books go, although sales are steady, and have always been so, they are not many. After over 360,000 ads placed to specific readers, which finally ended, sales have dropped next to nil on those too.

I've spent a lot of years working on a series, but so many other things are getting in the way of working on it now, it is more or less stalled down, with only about an hour per day applied to working on it. Never get very far that way.

And now I have a whole raft of jobs I have to get done to save the family from having to do it after I croak.

I suppose from time to time a new start up will become wildly profitable as if by accident. It's just part of the statistical curve for that to happen. LOL By far the majority of successful businesses are run by people with experience. You have the background and the instincts and it was obvious from nearly the first time we met. It helps that your family environment prepped you for business activity, but the effort you put into it as an individual is what made things work. While you have the instincts it's looking as if you no longer have the time. And I suppose there are some physical limits as well. That happens to everybody as they get older. The urgency of preparing for your final departure is easy to over emphasized. No matter when and how you leave this place, your survivors will find a way to deal with your estate. I understand that you want to make their life less complicated and to assure they actually inherit all the things you intend for them to have. But, you know, Gary is a pretty important person too. It's a trick and a half to find the right balance between serving your own interests and taking care of the future. I can only say that as we continue to grow older, our own comfort becomes an increasingly important factor.

Before I moved south, I auctioned off one heck of a lot of stuff. Made enough to become totally debt free.
I wish I had all those things so I could sell them for more than they brought at auction. But at the time, it was necessary to unload as much stuff as possible.

Now after close to 20 years of living down south here, I have amassed much more stuff. Not the quality of the things I had, and I did bring some things with me I would need to work. Now most of it sits idle, and electronics sitting idle do go bad.
My son would just throw nearly everything away, and I do have some valuables I got when my mom passed away and I brought those things down here. She divided her collections up between us all as she moved into a Seniors Apartment.
I see some of those things I have selling on places like e-Bay for anywhere from 150 to 300 bucks for the exact same item.
Debi almost put them in a yard sale for 15 bucks, but I nabbed them back, saying no, those are collectors items.
I never plan on doing the e-Bay thing again, because I hated all the boxing and shipping.
But we do place some things locally, and occasionally have a taker at the price we asked. Sometimes a little less.

I had a friend who passed away about five years ago. She went around to garage and yard sales, the thrift shops, etc. hunting for items she could resell. She knew her glassware better than anyone I know. But she still sold lots of different things. She leased some space in a consignment antique shop for about ten years, and during that time was making over 60k dollars a year net, before taxes. She also had some huge and heavy things when she had folks who could move them for her. Old cook stoves, and some farming attachments, but in later years only dealt with things she could put on a shelf.

I met someone down here doing roughly the same thing, but they traveled around like 4 to 6 states to find the things they were selling. And most of those were sold through an on-line antiques store. She let a place like PacMail handle all the packaging and shipping for her, and the customer had to pay for it.
There are some things I could package and ship if a customer wanted to pay the right price for it. But I hate the hassle of doing it. I didn't mind so much when I had a merchants account I could put a hold on the payment until they received the item. But things work quite a bit differently today as they did back then.
Plus, I don't have the energy to be hustling around anymore. My O2 drops drastically just walking between the house and my office now. Not Good Yogi, Not Good!

I don't think you collected things with the intent of reselling them later at a good price. Being a pack rat is in your genes. LOL My mom was the same way but on a smaller scale. When she passed we had a garage sale and I put a lot of what I thought to be her trinkets on the table. They were going to the trash after the sale. I was floored when all of her goodies disappeared the first hour. People her age came by early in the day and just went nuts over the collection. If I would have know how popular that stuff was I might have asked a higher price.

We had to clean up our decades of collections that were mostly stored in the basement prior to our move to Missouri. The amount of goodies down there was truly amazing. It wasn't just the quantity but also things I long forgot about but were an essential part of my life at one time. My collection of books on astrology was a good example. More than 400 books, some rare and out of print, were given away just to get them out of the basement. I didn't use them by the time we had to move, but they had sentimental value. Well the books and everything else but this computer are no longer part of my identity. Truth be told I have no identity down here. Maybe that is my new look ... invisible. Upon reflection all the reminders of my past are gone. In the grand view of things, it's not much of a loss and my kids won't have to dispose of all my stuff. The only challenge now is to find a way to dispose of all my monetary assets and still have enough to make it to the end. Problem there is I don't know where the end is. LOL

There is something about making it to your 5th decade of life that is potentially lethal. Many, if not most, people I know start to deteriorate noticeably about that age. I've been through some life threatening health ordeals myself, but now both my daughters who are in their 50's have heart problems. I've heard other people say it, and I am now experiencing it too. You don't want to outlive your kids. I probably won't, but heart problems are pretty serious things. About the only thing I know of that is worse would be breathing problems. In any emergency the first thing you want to do is be sure the victim continues breathing. I have empathy for your concerns about the O2 levels you can't maintain.

I owned several businesses over the years and had a basement and attic full of things from those businesses.
I never wanted to get rid of anything just in case I started another business where I would need them.
But seeing it all go at auction for pennies on the dollar really hurt. However, at the time, I had no choice.

After moving down here, and after getting this house, and digging out the basement. I bought expensive roller tracks to put my outgoing boxes on so they could be rolled out to the UPS truck. Sadly, they never got used for that purpose. After my first heart attack I had to keep everything up on the main floor, so the tracks are still down there. Unfortunately holding several boxes of junk items I had no place else to put them. The attic is full, the garage is full, and both of my storage sheds are full.

I have been going through boxes, perhaps at the rate of one per week, tossing most of what is in them. But I have a few nostalgia items of absolutely no value to anyone, except possibly my son. Things I made and used in the flower shop are a few of them. Others are foil prints for framing that never made it to the walls at the times intended. Right now, those are in my office, in the way, hi hi.

You are right about me being a pack-rat. When I was in the contracting business I saved everything because I could use a lot of it in the historical homes I worked on. But most of the house I did work on were renovated using all new modern stuff. Even so, back home I would have Thiese plateing clean up and lacquer a lot of things for me, since they had the equipment to do so, and some things like old glass door knobs with steel frames got replated and lacquered too. When I had outlets to sell them for a good price.

I really lucked out a few times. The old tin ceiling panels I had to take down from some old houses that were probably grocery stores or taverns at one time, but now had drop ceilings. I came up with enough of them to do 8,000 sq. ft. of matched good ones. They cost me nothing other than taking them down, and I spent maybe three days sandblasting them clean and dipping them in WD-40 to store. I had several matched sets that would only do like 300 to 500 sq. ft. and they all sold for like 100 to 200 bucks. I didn't want to split up the 8,000 sq. ft. matching set and spent about 100 bucks on advertising for them. A company who did restaurants, actually taverns like TGIF contacted me. They sent a guy over to look at them, and they offered me four grand in cash. I just looked at the guy and said, these are all perfect, no dents, not holes except in the proper nail holes, and they are all clean, no rust. We opened one of the bundles and he went through several checking them. I told him I guarantee they all look just like that, no bad ones at all. We finally agreed on six grand, but I had to give him two receipts. One for 4 grand for the tin, and one for 2 grand for the cleaning and prep work. I also owned the Saw and Sabre shop at that time, so gave him a receipt from SCS-Handymenders for the tin, and from the Saw and Sabre shop for the sandblasting work. He was pleased with my doing it that way and gave me an extra 100 dollar tip from his pocket not accounted for anywhere. I'm sure he sold them to the restaurant for well over 10 grand, which is about half of what new ones cost from tin stamping companies.

When I moved down here, and after I bought Debi's parents house for her. The attic and garage were loaded solid, including up in the garage rafters. We got a 30 cu. yd. dumpster parked in the driveway by the garage door, and filled that sucker up. I kept out a few things I knew could be resold, but nearly every plastic toy crumbled when we picked it up. We stopped when the dumpster was full, and there is still tons of stuff up in those rafters but not worth anything at all. At least the lower part of the garage was now empty, except for some tables, and a shelf of mason jars Debi's sister wanted, but they are still here. She is blind and in very poor health, so will never get them. I managed to get back there one day and pulled out those with zinc lids and the original style mason logo's, and gave them to her cousin to sell in his consignment are of a place he rents. He only put like 2 bucks on each of them so they sold in a couple of days time.

Yogi, it is too the point that just walking from the house up to my garage office means I need to hit the O2 bottle right away. And if I try to carry something, even something light, I had better have my portable tank with me and turned on.
I hate not being able to do much. Very Frustrating, and Annoying as all get out.
