Sex Doll Brothel

Post by yogi » 28 Aug 2018, 18:29

A brothel run by robotic sex dolls will be a reality in Toronto on September 8th. $80 will get you 30 minutes with the doll of your choice, while $960 will get you two dolls for four hours. There is no staff in this brothel, but you will be monitored remotely. Just drop your cash on the counter and proceed to the room with your fantasy doll waiting for you. So far it's just female dolls, but this is only the beginning. As artificial intelligence and robotics improve, so will the dolls.

Since I'm a fan of artificial intelligence, I have read several articles suggesting the widespread use of these dolls in the not too distant future. They will become very sophisticated and learn about you and your needs. After a while they will acquire "feelings" and respond to your sweet nothings much like a human. The question of love has been raised in some articles. Would it be possible to fall in love with your sex doll? And, exactly how ethical is that? It's also been proposed that these dolls can be therapeutic for people with problems integrating socially. The doll will pay attention to you like no other human can. It just gets smarter as time goes by.

It's going to be a very strange world by the time my grandchildren get to be my age.

you know how so often you hear "it's not the sex, it's someone to talk to". yeah, whatever, but you know, that's an idea... i would have a lovely time chatting to a Data instead of loki.

The sex bots are just the beginning. It seems that porn drives a lot of high tech research. Future human like robots will proliferate and do a lot of the things biological humans do right now. While that's groovy to think about, there are some mind blowing problems associated with that trend. For example, the androids will flourish in doing work that humans are doing now. Well more than 50% of the jobs out there will be done by non-human robots. So, what happens with all those unemployed people now that android robots are doing their job? Where does the money to support the people come from? There is much trepidation going around about these smart humanoids taking over and telling US what to do. Does that mean they have rights like us people do? And what if they commit a crime? The death penalty would seem moot, and are we going to be smart enough to keep them under control?

They say by 2047 we will see most of what I just described. These brothels are just the tip of the iceborg. (pun intended)

well, there's the old laws as in "i robot" et al. but if we build thinking robots, as we are, it sure as hell wouldn't take them long to run rings around us.

The timeline for bots to think as good as humans is in the middle 20's -- that's less than ten years from now. Artificial intelligence is creeping into many things even today. By the time 2030 rolls around, AI will surpass human intelligence. It's anybody's guess what will happen then.

I've read that sentiment more than a few times. But, how realistic is it? Think about it. Phones, like most other inventions of convenience, are merely extensions of our human capabilities. There is no question about the 'intelligence' of those mobile devices when you compare them to what they started out to be. A good deal of artificial intelligence is built into them there phones, but it's all useless without human interaction. You got to be smart as, or smarter than, the phone in order to use it. You do less now because the mobile device is doing all the footwork for you. It's your slave or popularly known as a Personal Assistant. I don't see that as humans being dumbed down. It's quite the opposite. We are making machines do a lot of things we used to do manually. Not to take advantage of that is kind of dumb.

the thing is that kids are using them all day and have learned to react, rather than think. the games have been programmed to be addictive and some literally stay connected all day and all night until they lose their minds. fortnite has been implicated in a couple hundreds divorce cases and this is just the beginning.

like, seriously?

You're old enough to remember the days when there were no personal computers. Well, I'm older than that. LOL We both must have heard the dire warnings and protestations about the addictions and mind numbing effects of those new PC's that nobody really knew anything about. Yes, it happened. Kids and adults became addicted to the Atari's, TRS80's, Commadors, Pets, and the whole lot of disruptive technology that came with those first computers. And ... what came of it? Not much other than more, bigger, and better computers. People are still doing dumb things, but at a faster pace now.

So, were, or are, computers and all the software that goes with them bad for society? I don't think that question can be addressed fairly by looking at a few undisciplined kids going through puberty. OK OK so there are a few grandmas and grandpas doing the same thing. But, is it bad to keep these people entertained when there isn't much left for them to do with their lives? I think the addiction thing and mind numbing all have been over stated. Unless you are talking about the president of the United States, of course.
