Clotted Cream
Tell me about clotted cream. What do you do with it once you have a jar of it? I hear it's used on scones, but it must be useful in some other ways too.
Re: Clotted Cream
When our milk goes bad, we throw it away.
Although I realize some people purposely buy curdled milk and actually eat it, sometimes on lettuce.
Have no idea what clotted cream is, but it doesn't sound to appetizing, hi hi.

Re: Clotted Cream
I'd agree wholeheartedly with that observation, Gary. However, they sell this stuff in some stores. My wife even bought a jar, but I have nary an idea what to do with it.
My mom would deliberately curdle milk when making some kind of cakes. I'm thinking it's a substitute for buttermilk. But, clotted cream is something else.

Re: Clotted Cream
The only way I like Cream is Whipped and piled high on desserts.
Or the canned whipped cream, just to eat directly out of the can.

Re: Clotted Cream
I don't believe that stuff in a can is actually whipped cream. LOL The real thing (40% butterfat) is to die for when put on top of a cup of coffee. I do that when I need comfort food. Also, the Cheesecake Factory Restaurant serves whipped cream with their desserts. It's better than anything I can get elsewhere (except in my own kitchen).
Re: Clotted Cream
You can put it into scrambled eggs ??? Oh wow! I'm going to try it.
Re: Clotted Cream
Perhaps that is what my grandmother was making when she put cream in a double-boiler on the stove.
Only buy REAL Whipped Cream, don't like those that are not, or made from something else.

Re: Clotted Cream
I'll put a spoonful of cream, or milk, into my scrambled eggs along with a shot of Worcestershire sauce. My wife wont eat it, but I have it on good authority that the cream addition makes the eggs cook better. Julia Childs wouldn't lie to me, would she?
Re: Clotted Cream
I put milk in the mix when I make scrambled eggs. Keeps them light and fluffy!
Sometimes I add other things too, like grated cheese, etc.
