The word 'very' is pretty much useless according to certain authorities. There are ways to avoid using this adverb, ways I never thought about. Probably because my vocabulary is very lacking.

The word "Very" comes from the Weasel List of words as writers we are not allowed to use, hi hi.

We have a whole list of Weasel Words we are taught to avoid.
They may be used in certain cases where another word would never work.
We are also to avoid the use of words ending in ...ing or ...ly, except for the word badly.
The word THAT can, in most cases, be deleted and would not change the meaning of the sentence.

i don't know if it's my ADD or just ornery nature, but repetition of any word within a page or so annoys me. like, dude, you're a writer, don't you have a thesaurus handy?
