The only thing I can figure is that common carriers such as UPS and FedEx deliver my crackers. The grocery store has it's own private cartage company to do the job. Their trucks are designed to limit the damage to it's contents. Not so with UPS.

i'd also expect the drivers' jobs just might depend on the goods arriving as healthy as they left.

There is no way the delivery person can tell what state my crackers are in. LOL
I blame the shipper for my cracker crumbs. There probably are actual human beings packing the boxes and their job is to get as many packed as is humanly possible during one work shift. Tossing the crackers in the box unprotected is way easier than wrapping them in bubble pack. But that's only half the reason for the carnage. Transport from the shipping dock to my front porch is a rough ride. There is a lot of tossing of boxes and bouncing around inside numerous trucks and conveyor belts. So, if the crackers are not packed well and protected, I end up with crumbs.
