The question is, did they find them?

Way way back, when I was around 10 or 11 years old, when my mother packed all the Easter Stuff back into storage in the upstairs hall closet, she accidentally packed a way a decorated hard boiled egg.

We all got to sleep downstairs while the exterminator she called was looking for a dead rat in the walls.
He kept telling her, it doesn't smell like a rat, mouse, or squirrel to him. But she insisted he keep looking.
To do this, he had to make two small holes in nearly every 16 inch section of wall, all up and down both sides of the hallway.
Not finding anything, the last thing he did was take everything out of the storage closet and lined the cartons up and down the hallway to look inside of those walls.
With the boxes out in the hallway, the odor followed one of the boxes placed down at the end of the hall.
He told my mom to go through the boxes, and when she opened the one with the egg, it about bowled her over.

About the only good thing that came out of it.
Dad had all the walls filled with sound deadening insulation, before replastering the holes and painting the hallway and staircase.

Telling us kids WHAT it was that caused the awful stink in the house, was not a wise move by the parents.
We now had something we could use ourselves with little effort should the need arise.
Like inside the air-intake vents at school would be a good place to toss a few, hi hi.
This is not an admission to any wrongdoing at skewl!

There was a long article about the fish in the curtain rod floating around the Internet a few years back.
Loved It!

Yes, I believe it was Pil. When they moved out they took the curtain rods with them to their new place, hi hi.
