I find it hard to wrap my mind around the concept of a machine being able to do back flips.

I dunno ... that bot is way too agile for a machine. I hear the military is interested in such things. It's kind of scary.

The technology has been around a while, but there is some concern about advancing it. People are not sure they can give killer robots a moral sense. And, if they have artificial intelligence, us humans may turn out to be disposable to them.

In about ten years, not more than fifteen, they say artificial intelligence will surpass human intelligence. At that point we could appear inferior to that which we created. I'm guessing that self-preservation would become the dominant goal of any self-aware being, which means that the bots may merely tolerate us as we do flies or mosquitoes in summer. They are working on teaching bots how to be sentient, and even loving. The porn industry is driving that research, believe it or not. However, nobody knows where that will lead in a super intelligent robot.
