Being uninformed as I am, tell me something about Crystal Palace. Have they played in the World Cup?

That's quite a lengthy history lesson.
I'm sure being at a live event would be more exciting than watching it on the television. Team spirit must run high during the game.

It sure can Sir ...with lot's of Oooohs and Arrssss the atmosphere can be likened to that of a rock concert..
I met this American fellow in our club shop after a game and he told me he was from Minnesota and purchased a Palace scarf..
He said the quality was better here in club football/soccer but America are catching up all the time..
What I like about American spirit is give it your best shot and we play flat out till the very end...

Soccer is gaining in popularity in America, but it has a long way to go to catch up with the spirit of the game in the UK, for example. I think part of the problem here is that sports of all kinds are commercialized, It's not to say we are lacking in team spirit, it's just that corporations have not yet been willing to sponsor much. It's more of a school sport and not so professional here.

We got our name from The Crystal Palace building...which burnt to the ground in 1936..

One of my favorite old time comedians was George Burns. He and his wife Gracie Allen did the rounds in vaudeville. They eventually graduated to radio and television. George insisted he was going to live to be 100 and booked a show many years in advance at The Palace Theater for the celebration. He did both. I'm wondering if the Palace Theater has anything to do with the Chrystal Palace.
