the pool project

a few pictures from the kids cleaning out the pool at the house we're going to move to. soon.



there were loads of tadpoles and frogs - relocated.



then descaling



that umbrella is still there as there's a wasp nest in it...
after about a week, finally all done - just waiting for the sun to appear NOW that we want it!

The pool made quite the transformation, although green is a nice color too.
How long does it take to fill up something like that?

i'm not sure, but i'm thinking it 24 hrs... the pool's not that big and probably only 5' deep, hm... nope, maybe 4½', going by squeaki standing in it.

apparently i can't take pictures of moving targets when i've zoomed in... unless i want funky 'special effects'.

I bet you can do it while zoomed, but maybe not with auto-focus engaged. You may have to set it up manually with a fast shutter speed.

well, i can take those burst photos with my old phone, but not with this one. with my camera i'd just fire off in sports mode and get 15 frames before he hit the water, but camera needed charging. of course.

OK then, I don't have a lot of experience with phone cameras, but I suspect that the settings are done automatically. To me a 'sports mode' would mean something like f22 @ 1/1000 seconds set manually on my Nikon. Burst mode is ok in certain situations, but I'd guess shooting a video would be better at capturing a dive. You can pick out the frame or two you like with a simple video editor.

well, tonight i thought it was getting warmer in the pool than in the air, so took a look. and sure enough, the pool was at 84°, and the air 80. so, i made like a dolphin!

right.

That's the opposite of what I thought pools should be, but hey. Whatever works for you is fine.

whatever the reason, i get leg cramps if i try to just get into cool, n/m cold water. trying to remedy it with magnesium and it helped, but i can still feel grumbling from down there. so until i get that sorted, bath water is just fine!

it's supposed to be hitting a 100 tomorrow, so i'm thinking we'll have soup stock in there by the afternoon... just add veggies.

In general, hot water is 130 degrees Fahrenheit (54.4 Celsius) or above. Warm water is between 110 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit ( 43.3-32.2 Celsius). Cold water is generally between 80 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit (26.7-15 Celsius).

This is crazy, but probably very true. You are swimming in 'cold' water.

in fact, just right.

tomorrow will be warm, too, but then it's said to drop by about 15°. bring out the parkas!
