Photographing Light

Post by yogi »

We all know that light is both a wave and a particle - we know because the venerable Albert Einstein told us so. Many experiments have been conducted to show that light is both, but it could never be shown simultaneously. We could observe it as a particle stream or as a wave, but not both. All that has changed now.
“This experiment demonstrates that, for the first time ever, we can film quantum mechanics – and its paradoxical nature – directly,” says Fabrizio Carbone.

Now that's cool Yogi!

I often got pooh poohed when I said all of our senses could be shown on the same graph as a sine wave of increasing frequency. Actually, most folks realize this, just never thought of it as applied to how our senses work.

I'm glad to see they can now capture both wavelength and particles in the same instance and at the same time. This is a major breakthrough. Terrabit wifi (wireless worldwide internet) here we come!
Possibly even wireless electrical transmission, which we are already very close to.
