Shark Attack

Post by yogi » 16 May 2016, 16:04

A woman was in the ocean swimming off Boca Raton, Florida, when she was bitten on her arm by a 2 foot long shark. Scary, but not so unusual for ocean waters. The lady was pretty cool about it and got out of the water on her own, but the rescue squad on shore could not get the shark to let go even though it was dead. So, they carted the lady and shark off to the ER at a local hospital. The shark was dislodge and the woman treated for minor injuries. I think I'd faint and drown in the water if that happened to me.

Good grief! It'd certainly come as a shock wouldn't it! Not exactly something you want during a relaxing swim, but I suppose people have to watch out for such creatures in that area?

Meanwhile, in sunny Cornwall ...... somewhat off-course .....

The problem is hun, that in the case of the bowhead, or Arctic whale, it'd be easy for them to get beached because of their size, and it's precisely their large size which makes rescue attempts so difficult. I think the one featured turned and swam back out to sea, but the shallow waters are death traps for them.

It's also a pity that the 2-foot shark who bit the woman, died. I know they're seen as fearsome creatures, but they're also wonderful in their own way. I'm sure the poor woman didn't think so though!
