Waterfox is the high performance 64-bit version of Firefox. Unless you have been using the Nightly Build of Firefox, your version probably is a 32-bit browser. This works really well on older computers driven by 32-bit microprocessors. Modern computers are almost exclusively 64-bit so that it is likely in your best interest to switch over to a browser that is optimized for your hardware. You can use the beta testing browser from Mozilla (Nightly), or you can use Waterfox.

NOTE: Since Waterfox is essentially a souped up version of Firefox, they share the same profile. That means you cannot run both Firefox and Waterfox at the same time. They may be installed side by side, but only one version will run at a time. This is a good thing because when you install Waterfox, there is no setup. It will use all the settings you already have for Firefox.
