We talked about it before on nBF and now it is a reality
The Federal Communications Commission approved the policy known as net neutrality by a 3-2 vote at its Thursday meeting, with FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler saying the policy will ensure "that no one — whether government or corporate — should control free open access to the Internet."
This is the first time in memory that the little guys and not the corporate lobbyists won the day with a government agency. The FCC is a non-elected panel of people charged with regulating public communications. Their decision to classify the Internet as a common carrier and thus free it from manipulation by corporate and government interests is a major win for us grass roots users. Of course, it remains to be seen if this is a good thing or not. But the point is that the little guys can win if they stand up to be heard.
