I discovered a program that has been around Linux for a long time but it is new to me. It's called Terminator. This program is simply a means to display multiple sessions of the X-term. They can be sliced and diced in any arrangement that is convenient, and it even has a tabbed window function if you don't want to split your screen view. It's not often that I'd want to do this, but here it is. It was buried in the app store of Ubuntu but it's readily available in other repositories.
