Re: Unbelievably crappy week!

If his shift hours were "flexible," surely that should have been indicated on the schedule, I would think. Also, they should be scheduling someone to fill the interim hours or, at the very least, *asking* those of us stuck picking up the slack if we'd mind working the extra hours. It's bee...

Re: Classic rock...

I believe I was, too, but that's the lovely thing about the time differences between the US and the UK. Y'all are several hours ahead of us ;-)

Re: Beyond the sea

I was impressed with the movie...not because I cared so much about Bobby Darin, but because before this, I've always *loved* Kevin Spacey. Not only can the man act, but I found that he can SING, too, and quite well, as matter of fact!! I enjoyed his performance in this pic very much!

Re: Classic rock...

STILL the best "live" performance by a "classic" rock band I've ever seen...wish I had been there to have seen it "in person," but I remember watching it on TV, nearly 30 years ago. Enjoy...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A22oy8dFjqc

Re: Two stars as one

Didn't get to see it. Unfortunately, we had a good bit of cloud cover...went outdoors on my breaks to look, but could see nothing with the clouds in the way :-(

Unbelievably crappy week!

THIS week has been the absolute s***s! Not only were we heavily scheduled for surgeries, but we've had next to NO staff! My usual partner-in-crime, Melissa, took a fall from a boat and injured her shoulder badly enough to call in sick for two nights in a row. Those of us remaining have been running ...

Re: Yes, I DO hate people...

Yes, they DO grow up, and far too quickly! It seems that it was only yesterday that MY girls were little ones, and here I am, now in my fifties, with one daughter who'll be 29 next month and another who'll be 27 in November, right around the time she'll be giving birth to my second grandchild! If I ...

Yes, I DO hate people...

...and no, we won't even go into the reasons why I hate them. The last week of psychotic chronic pain spinal surgery patients and ultra-manipulative prison patients (it appears that one of our orthopedic surgeons has a contract with a prison) is too much for me to go into. Suffice it to say, I effin...

Re: Hawking on Suicide

He IS an awesome man, made even more awesome by his determination NOT to be a "burden" upon his loved ones. I can only hope that it will be many years before he feels that such an action might be "necessary" in order for him to maintain is dignity. We should keep such a brilliant...

Re: Extremism Disruption Orders

Scary, but not surpising. I've been bemoaning the "police state" here in the US for years, for all that anyone cares...too many folks STILL go around saying "well, if you've got nothing to hide, what are you worried about?" In the meantime, they'll sit at home like couch potatoes...

Secretariat -- A Movie Review

Last weekend, I was having a late dinner with my brother at one of his favorite sports bars. While we were sipping our drinks, we watched replays of the Belmont Stakes race, the third "jewel" in American thoroughbred horse racing's Triple Crown; which was run earlier that day, and learned ...

Re: B B King

Sad, sad news, indeed! I read about it while still on vacation and was very saddened by it. I saw him in concert just over one year ago (I've been a fan for years, but had never been fortunate enough to have attended one of his performances previously), and, while disappointed, perhaps, that his per...

She was, indeed, an admirable person, Dennis. She will be missed by many. If the entire world only followed her loving example, it *would* be a much better place. Her example is one that I admire and which I've tried to follow myself throughout my adult life...to make a "difference," even ...

Re: did it again...

I've actually managed to stay away from artificial hair color for more than a year, and can't say that I'm happy with the results. DON'T much care for the salt-and-pepper look! My hair is naturally dark brown, but now I have substantial strands of white throughout. If it would go *completely* white,...

Sad day...

It's been one helluva week! Started back to work on Tuesday night after having been off for 20 days (we were on vacation), and the return back to work just gets worse the older I get. Once we got home, I only had one day in which to try to re-adjust my circadian rhythms. After having been up during ...
