Re: Icey

Same view, one week later. There are still patches of snow out of sight, but for the most part it's all gone thanks to a series of 50+ degree days and lots of sunshine.

Super Moon Solar Eclipse and Moving

20 March, 2015 is the scheduled date for archiving neoBrainformation. As if in celebration of the great moment, the forces of nature are putting on a spectacular performance. There will be a total solar eclipse visible from England and Scotland on that date. Also, the night before will be a Super M...

Pi Day

We all know what pi ( π ) is, right? And, us really hip people all have its value memorized out to eleven decimal places ==>3.14159265359. Of course we do. Plus, we all know that there is a day each year on which to celebrate this elementary number: 3/14, or March 14th. Well this year is a once in a...

Icey

No, really. ICEY. http://s23.postimg.org/6c2ecaa8b/DSCN3661.jpg This is out the window in the command and control center right after sunrise. It shows what happens after freezing rain falls upon several inches of preexisting snow. The temps today will approach freezing and hopefully some of that arc...

Re: A "hole" lot of possible trouble!

As the holes in Siberia show, you don't need human intervention for the earth to be unstable. It just happens.

Re: Critters

The cat scared me to be honest. It did look like a bob, but I wasn't close enough to be sure. The big critter tracks are almost certainly deer foot prints. There is a whole family of them back there somewhere.

Cheeseburger-flavored Doritos

We all know why "junk food" is called junk food, right? If you ever ate any version of Doritos, I'm sure you would agree with me that it's plain and simple junk food. Be that as it may, a lot of people eat it. They actually crave it. Patrick De Justo is a journalist who thoroughly investig...

Photographing Light

http://actu.epfl.ch/image/33361/324x182.jpg We all know that light is both a wave and a particle - we know because the venerable Albert Einstein told us so. Many experiments have been conducted to show that light is both, but it could never be shown simultaneously. We could observe it as a particle...

Re: Critters

Been here twenty five years and have seen at least once with my own eyes, deer, pheasant, skunk, possum, rabbits, squirrels, snakes, fox, coyote, and a large cat-like critter I never did identify -- it would make a full grown German Shepherd look small. We have an assortment of birds that range from...

Re: A "hole" lot of possible trouble!

I can't get too excited about permafrost melting in Siberia. The implications are horrendous, but it's too distant from me to be concerned by it. However, there is an increasing number of sink holes appearing here in America. They result from underground erosion as opposed to methane explosions, but...

Critters

http://s15.postimg.org/991lginiz/DSCN3660m.jpg Just prior to sun-up this morning I looked out my window and saw this. I have about an acre of land on which my house is built. The back portion is mostly wooded and kind of nice to look at when it's not infested with mosquitoes. I always knew there we...

Net Neutrality Now A Reality

We talked about it before on nBF and now it is a reality The Federal Communications Commission approved the policy known as net neutrality by a 3-2 vote at its Thursday meeting, with FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler saying the policy will ensure "that no one — whether government or corporate — should c...

Re: old greek dude

The arguments in the article's comments come from people with much more expertise than I'll ever have. They say the ties between the species are genetic. It's easy enough to trace it all back to a common source. 28% of Native Americans happen to have segments of Neanderthal genes, and such genes are...

Re: old greek dude

I read page one of the comments following the article, and that took nearly an hour to digest. The read is very in depth and reveals clearly how scientists think and come to conclusions. There are two main arguments in the comments. One is the classic question, "where did we come from?" Th...

Apparently the world famous Eiffel Tower has been fitted with two wind turbines that generate 10,000kWh of electricity silently and inconspicuously. Can anyone out there verify this for us? British Troops In The Ukraine

Apparently 75 non-armed military personnel will help Ukraine's army and provide tactical intelligence starting in March. David Cameron has warned that dire consequences for the EU could develop if the Russian separatists are allowed to succeed. There are no plans to arm the British soldiers, but it ...

Re: Feeble question from Icey ...

Ha Ha Ha - well, my bug eyed friend, it's not as complicated as us geeks make it out to be. If you can find the memory sticks, I'll help you find what you need to copy. It may not be perfect, but some backup is better than no backup.
