In fact I'm tracking the info on Family Search, and have been checking the records to separate the inaccurate data from the real one... Point is that it has not all the records, or there are incomplete. I was glad I found my grandparents on the 1930 mexican census, that I found both my maternal gran...

Re: Excess Deaths
Greetings, It is just fascinating that you've spent that much on researching tour family tree in such deep. Just begun checking about it every now and then, and the place I've done most of my searches is a free one that has references from several sources. Somehow I reached a tree a far relative has...

Nah, the issue is that career politicians benefit of the loopholes within the legal frame down here... And since we don't have to state or plead allegiance to any political party when we register as voters, many politicians switch party membership as they see fit.

Happy Birthday, Gary. Using ground heat as a thermal regulating resource is limited to the thermal conductivity of soil and the heat transfer surface used for the regulation scheme. What I'm referring to is to drill artificial geysers in geologically active areas and use them as source for electrici...

Re: God bless the NHS (They might be listening)
It may be that in Europe they are more used to have more power in their congresses, and not in the "Frontman"... When their politicians appear in the news, you see them more often speaking to their respective congresses, and in some cases, the Head of the Congress is more powerful than the...

Along the "green" energy sources. Almost no one remembers geothermal energy. It has its ups and downs, but it can also be an alternative next to hydroelectric generators.

Another point. As non native English speakers, us foreigners, when applying for a job or post graduate studies, we need to do an English proficiency exam. The reference exams are the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), that is commonly nicknamed as "too awful", and the IELTS (In...

Mostly, other languages that use Roman alphabet, have different diacritical marks. In Spanish, we use the accent to emphasize the intonation of the syllable, it helps sometimes when we have to distinguish between words that otherwise would sound similar. Example. "Esta situación está fuera de c...

The problem is the way public transportation is implemented, Gary, from what you're telling, it is centrally planned up there where you have lived, without regard of offering citizens a usable system. Down here, the four avenues that mark the limits of the neighborhood where I live are also main bus...

Lithium batteries have two main limitations: - Useful life. Is the same as in any cellphone. 3 to 5 years and 1000 to 1500 cycles. If batteries with 10,000 cycle or 250,000 hours of total useful life can be manufactured, it will be a game changer for electric cars. I've read that research is being d...

Glad to know you're still around, and hope your condition improves quickly. Since I've already passed the half century threshold, I've been thinking about the same area for a bit, but seeing no real issues have presented to my ancestors, I'm thinking of checking about it as a prevention mainly. I know very little about optics (where is Juan when we need him) and find it slightly amazing that plastic lenses don't do you any good. All I ever read on the subject had to do with cameras. There was a review about Nikon cameras many years ago that claimed they were the last of the consumer type ...

Re: DST Time shifts may come to end.
As I've hinted before, in locations within the tropics, the variation between winter and summer sunrise and sunset times is not considerable, and reduces to minutes at the very Equator due to the eccentricity of Earth's orbit around the Sun. Rush hour in most urban areas is 7:00 to 9:00 and 17:00 to...

DST Time shifts may come to end.
I just read that we may see the end of the yearly back/forth time shift known as Daylight savings... https://twitter.com/SenateCloakroom/status/1503797632745025542 Because of USMCA/TEMEC, we down here in México will follow suit and end this 25 year long experiment on our time schedules... In my opin...
