Re: Blackboards: 2021 style
Most terrorist groups want to stop worldwide economy, and most authoritarian regimes want to control the world, so it's a dark murky swamp out there below the surface. It's not that they want the riches of the rich countries, is that they want the riches to vanish to profit from their serfs... While...

Re: Blackboards: 2021 style
O.K. It sounds like it is actually a stand mounted big All-In-One computer... Given what they used to equip within the so called shmartz TV sets, it would not be an stretch of imagination to think it somehow has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capability... Scale economy makes the only really expensive part the...

Re: Blackboards: 2021 style
I remember there was an attempt to install interactive blackboards all over Mexico under the initiative "Enciclomedia" between 2006 and 2008. The idea was to connect all the schools to centralized databases of teaching material to use on classes. The connection was done either through wire...

Re: Receiving the tradition season...
It seems that the bug to explain the evolution of the "Day of the dead" tradition did not only hit me. I just found a link to a related article published by an American of Mexican ancestry. He researched from colonial chronicles to round an explanation about how commercialized this traditi...

A L.A. party held for the occasion... Quite entertaining, and yes, it explains a lot. An user had the time to write down the lyrics. Si el corazón me acompaña Quiero invitar al tiempo Para que me abran las puertas Me arrulle en los recuerdos Esos que abrazan el alma Y abren el sentimiento Oh oh Cuan...

Re: Receiving the tradition season...
According to who you ask, the commemoration is centered on the November 1st and 2nd, but there are extended celebrations in several places, having an extended calendar that goes like this. Note that it is not restricted to a single night, nor it forgets those that have no family that remembers them....

Re: Receiving the tradition season...
Literary calaverita, just for the heck of it. Reflecting on the passing of the years, was the bald one weeping her sorrow tears looking at the results of the work she did after the sweeping over the whole world grid. Yet many people keep resisting and standing. Using their hope, common sense and bes...

Now you're telling me that it was not a over the wall comedy show, but more like an anecdotal recount... Go figure.

FWIW: I didn't pass the chemistry class, didn't even come close, my math was too poor, hi hi. And all those chemical combinations that are not at all what you think they would be. Here is a simple one anyone can understand. H2O is Water, fairly common knowledge. O2 is the Air we breathe, also commo...

Michoacán and Jalisco would not be enough to supply the avocado demand, or Sinaloa covering the tomato demand... And we'll miss the salt mines in Guerrero Negro, the Ensenada vineyards, Tecate, the San Pedro Martir Observatory and the Whale cradles at Mulegé and La Paz bay... Maybe we can make a cut...

Greetings on your 74th. As I say to close friends, You still have to keep going... The rest of the people that had been to this site may have forgotten about it, so I'd understand if Dennis decides to close the site due to lack of participation... Anyway, cheers on your day and may many of them be o...

Re: Micro Climate in O'Fallon
I tend to think about the Earth's crust as if it were a boiling pot of rice pudding... The crust that forms tend to form crumples that move, split, fuse and sink while the milk keeps boiling... Maybe not the best analogy, but one that helped me understand a bit of it. Mainly the differences between ...

Re: Micro Climate in O'Fallon
I wasn't aware of the trail route, and just let google measure the road path between Birmingham, Alabama, and Albany, New York, since that seemed to be the most apparent length stretch of the Appalachians, and the width across at about the position of Knox County, It seems to be between Spartanburg,...

Re: Micro Climate in O'Fallon
Even when the Appalachians are not very tall, at least from my perspective, they are quite extensive... It seems like it could take three hours driving either to the northwest or to the southeast to cross them from Knox country for what it seems on the map... and they seem longer than the Baja Penín...

At least in the immediate environment, you are true. Most of the difference depends not on the proximity to the equator. Rain forests (Jungles) are near the equator. The issue here is the building density and the overexploitation within the lakebowl, being the introduction of several kinds of Eucaly...

The profits to big pharma is on the big sales. Those sold to the health care systems worldwide, and those quoted to insurance companies in the USA. I'm of the opinion that he medication that is supplied to pharmacy chains worldwide gets a fake pricing, and that costs are not what we think, just sinc...

Re: Micro Climate in O'Fallon
There's another incentive for big pharma to increase their prescription medicine prices: Government backed health care systems. I've come to the conclusion that most of the prescription drugs have three sale prices: - The price for insurance companies. This is the highest, and unfortunately, the one...

It really looks like a mean machine... By now they got used to call "Gaming computers" the ones with specs above average, that in the past would be termed for "Power users" or as "Graphic design 'puters"... New toys are always enjoyable, and being able to afford them is...

It doesn't feel that way at an specially smoggy day with a strong thermal inversion... Or at rush hour at the subway... The issue is not as bad as in the '90s but it still needs work. Looking towards the transmission tower pictured in other thread, these are some of the hills of the western edge of ...

Fresh lawn sunrise mist... Yep, a lovely sight... Specially on a clear sunny sunrise after a rainy day. Up to the early '80s was a common sight over here, specially on regulation reservoirs... Now is mostly just in the outskirts of the city, in the former lakebed areas... And the best is that the te...
