Re: 14 Year Old Governor

I would have been one of them who quit. I have my own detached office and smoke like a stoker furnace and nobody can say or do anything about it. Unfortunately, I built the office nearly air-tight and until I could install a ventilation system, the darn smoke from the cigarettes turned the room and ...

Re: 14 Year Old Governor

My brother fought heavily against the new no smoking laws in his business. Ironic since he was a non-smoker himself. The thing was 2/3 of his employees were smokers. He put all the non-smokers in the packaging area connected to the main office building, and all the smokers in the large packaging are...

Re: Rock And Roll

That's the trouble with most generators, noise pollution, hi hi. One of the reasons we bought the China Diesel Dynamo was because it was quiet. You could not hear it inside the house at all, but it did make some noise of course. Light bulbs: A number of years ago, we switched out all the bulbs to co...

Re: Dancing?

If you spray it only on the weeds using the small stream setting, and only get it on the weeds, it won't hurt the plants around it. We had a couple of boilers and used the steam to sterilize our growing beds between each crop. Saved tons on using chemicals or other methods. In the summer months when...

Re: Paint Remover

We had a 30 or 60 ton press, don't remember which now, it was used to press wheel bearings and a few other fitted parts. Aside from that, we used it to crush a few soda cans, one of the workers lunch pails, and an old 4-channel CB, that I can remember. We had more fun with a metal-cutting bandsaw. S...

Re: Dancing?

We can get steamed mulch from the city for 10 to 20 bucks for a yard bucket which is enough to fill a pickup truck. Mulch placed around bushes, trees, garden areas, etc, only seem to last a couple of years before it has self-decomposed. Before my health declined, I used to keep our yard pristine. No...

Re: Rock And Roll

I owned an electric car. Got rid of it before it was time to replace the battery racks, which was about 1/4 the price of the car back then, 1973-75. I didn't really pay much attention to our electric bill until it dropped by about 20 bucks a month after I got rid of the car. I think it used more cha...

Re: 14 Year Old Governor

I agree with Sugar and Kids do not mix well! When I worked in a large office building downtown STL, nearly every desk had a large mug of hot coffee sitting on it, and there was a steady stream out the door to the coffee room all morning. Those of us who did not drink coffee could only go to the soda...

Re: Managed Desktop

I've tried to set up the things that would be of interest to other family members in such a way they could access them with little to no knowledge about computers. Basically Plug n Pray, hi hi. I wish all of my stuff was as organized as the few things I felt important enough to keep together in an e...

Re: 14 Year Old Governor

All the years I worked in an office setting, you could tell who most of the coffee drinkers were, even if you never saw them with a cup of coffee. Many of them cannot get started working until they've had a few cups of coffee. Often one at home, one on the way to work, and another before coming up t...

You should look into the amount of oil used to produce batteries and solar cells.
I wonder if it really is helping to have electric vehicles?

Re: Dancing?

I cut down 1/3 acre of trees and brush, piled it all up in a corner behind the storage sheds out of sight out of mind. The pile was about ten feet high and around 25 feet long, width varied a little between eight and twelve feet. Three years later I started using mulch from the far end where I place...

Re: Managed Desktop

Maybe I should dig out my old Win98 computer and see if I can find the program I used with it for file conversions. Seems it only took like 15 minutes to convert 500 pcx or bmp files to tiff, or tiff to jpg. All of my photo's both sorted and unsorted, the originals are saved in dated folders as they...

If you don't want to kill off the good grass you want to keep, then you can't use the kill all type products.
You'll have to stick with the chemicals designed to kill only a particular type of weed, or range of weeds, such as broadleaf weed killer that does not harm grass.

I did look into those. Found several 128gb solid state external USB3.0 for around 40 bucks each. I experimented with zipping a few folders and found they did not really get any smaller in file size. Since I doubt anyone will go to the editing work of restoring some of the old photo's I've not alread...

With over 85% of the country addicted to Coffee, which is also considered a Gateway Speed Drug. More coffee addicts move to using harder drugs than Marijuana users ever have. I'll try to find the data from the clinical study to post the source. But if I recall, of the drug addicts in rehab, only lik...
