Re: Another Win For Linux

When it comes to programming, I'm like Schultz, I Know Nothing, hi hi. I just saw an ad for an at home college degree, they had BASIC as one of the programming languages you could get a degree in. Actually two different types of BASIC, but I don't remember what they called the second one. Who still ...

Re: Adaptive Advertising (again)

I've used grep for a couple of things related to finding files in the OS itself, but that's about it, and only from commands I had to do to fix something I messed up, hi hi. I took a look at my older computer to see if it was in there with no luck, it had to be on the computer that died previous to ...

Re: Ski By Fire

I lived on the Original Route-66 - Manchester Road! I wrote an article a few years back on the various paths Route-66 followed through Saint Louis over the years. And why after one time it changed, folks bypassed it to go out of their way to cross the original bridge it used. When I was younger, I f...

I don't know Yogi. Watching Reels Spin is also about as productive. Yet I spent the entire cruise doing just that!
At least it was only a once in a lifetime adventure, hi hi.

Re: Adaptive Advertising (again)

Awhile back when we were talking about this same thing. You gave me the link to a website that I spent days reading and studying. When we save things on our computer, we normally do so in Folders and sub-Folders so we can find the data when we need it, and it's all together in one Folder. Like I hav...

Re: Another Win For Linux

I have the same problem with all the tools I would use to check my writing for grammar and punctuation. Every time I find one I like, they either disappear or become a pay per use site. I'm a life member at the greatest site I found, wasn't cheap, and sadly I've not used them in a couple of years no...

Re: Fire and Ice

You do know they are a gambling device similar to our slot machines in Japan and other Asian countries. Dad had photo's of Pachinko parlors from WWII, and just like our casino's have slot machines lining the walls and up and down the middle aisles, they had thousands of Pachinko machines. Every ball...

Re: Ski By Fire

I think it also makes a difference at what level the gas comes out of the main refineries distillation tank, before it goes into the various grading tanks. At the top of the distillation column would be things like Propane and Butane, below that would be gasoline, below that would be kerosene, below...

Re: Another Win For Linux

I rarely use other computers for things other than what I set them up for.
But when something isn't working right, it is helpful to have all of my website links available on each computer. Especially the repair information links.

Yeppers, you do explain things a whole lot better than I do.
It is still a mystery how they store all that information for 6 million players for years without losing any data.
Even if you quit playing, you can go back again years later and start back up where you left off.

Re: Ski By Fire

Before a truck fills up at a refinery, they first stop under the additives tower. This is how each company has their own blends and their own additives blend. But not all companies, meaning the independents, add any additives, although most now add Ethanol, a few stations do not. One brand, besides ...

Re: Fire and Ice

There was a store out in Ballwin called Pachinko Palace. They were open from the middle of 1970 all the way up to around 1990. Then they sold out to some place in Oklahoma I think. St. Louis Pinball quit carrying Pachinko machines, but they are still in business repairing and selling pinball machine...

Every OEM disk I had that came with a computer, would only work on that exact computer. About the only thing you could change was the HD, so it much have checked the Mobo serial number or something. The Dealer disks I had could be installed on any computer, without having to go through the install p...

Re: What's In An iPhone

My first, second, and third Apple computers all used a TV on Channel 3. I found an old big square 20 inch TV I used with them. Plus had another one about 18 inch I think, that the tuner went bad. Used it with the game console after I figured out how to get it to Channel 3, hi hi. I don't think I had...

Firefox had a bookmark bar similar to Google which could be shared between your computers, but it had some problems with multiple users on the same computer. Each person would have to log out of the bookmark bar for the next person to log into theirs. A royal pain. Now Googles bookmark bar, although...

Re: Fire and Ice

Tell me about it, I had several Pachinko machines from the cheap ones all they way up to the recirculating you didn't have to keep refilling. I just sold my last two right before moving down here, before we had the auction. Similar in how it worked, almost, we also had big disk drop game. Although m...

Ah, you're back. Couldn't see a way to post at first, then I saw I wasn't logged in. I started driving when I was 14, actually 12 if you count tractors, hi hi. That don't mean I drove on the roads per se, but did cross a few on the way to school. When I did turn 16 and got my drivers license, I did ...

Re: Another Win For Linux

It's not in the Buzz on Linux forums. There are a few comments about possible latency problems. But even though they used open source it doesn't mean it will be geared to Linux. It will more than likely be geared to their Game Console. Most of the games will probably be the shooter type games, the h...

Re: The End is Near

My grandmother, along with a group of about 5 other ladies, all did quilting in her basement. Now they didn't make the quilts face, they only did the quilting part. They could usually get a quilt done in two or three sessions. Most of what they did ended up at the church bazaars for sale, unless the...

Re: What's In An iPhone

I had an early game box, not a popular name, prior to those days I think. You had to turn your TV to Channel 3 for it to work, it had simple games like Pong, Break Out, and a few shooter games to shoot falling items. Not much. Got tired of it real quick, hi hi.
