Re: HP printer back to its original problem.

Wish I could afford the printer I really want, but at my age, and with my only product sales down to near zilch, it is definitely not cost effective or feasible anymore. Don't know if you remember the Dye-Sub printers or not. They still make them. The model I bought was designed for placing photogra...

Re: Rock And Roll

Every external part that appears whitish are soapstone panels, and the entire inside is layers of soapstone.
Excellent heat output for what little wood they used.
They are too heavy for even two people to lift, unless they are musclebound weight lifters, hi hi.

Re: HP printer back to its original problem.

I had one cheap inkjet printer that you could not refill the cartridges. The company did sell one you could refill for about four times the price. I looked into a couple of commercial grade laser printers, but that's all they do is print. I supposed I could buy a normal color laser printer and buy a...

Re: HP printer back to its original problem.

You might love this story. Back in the late 1980's and early 90's I had a couple of small businesses where I printed full color tri-folds, multi-page bulletins, and pamphlets. I had an expensive high-speed printer, commonly called a crash printer, because it ran at just under 100 pages a minute. Sup...

Re: Rock And Roll

We did use our catalytic converter after the stove warmed up. I loved the design of ours, but being soapstone and no sharp corners to speak of, although it held and gave off a lot of heat, about the only place one could get burned was to touch the flue pipe in the back, which was already almost impo...

We don't like Albacore Tuna, but it would have been on a different shelf than the canned Fruits were on. In my case, Tuna would have been on the single-use items shelf, along with Spaghetti-O's, hi hi. My house in Creve Coeur originally had one of those super deep single door pantries over the basem...

Re: HP printer back to its original problem.

Over a dozen different websites rated this printer as the best for home and small office. They still do! After getting burned by HP really bad twice when I was down and out and trying to get back on my feet, I swore I would never buy another HP product. I used a Konica/Minolta laser color printer fo...

Re: Florence

It's partly cloudy here, wind about 10mph with no gusts, no rain.
Looks like it won't make it this far as first predicted.

If FEMA does send stuff, it will probably be blocked and parked somewhere until it rots like in Puerto Rico.

Re: Paint Remover

I know what you mean. I have lists stuck up around my desk of the order of things I do each day, and the order I do things at particular websites where there is a lot to do. At my house in Creve Coeur I built a 13 foot long pantry. It had 3 sets of sliding doors over 4 foot sections. People used to ...

Re: Rock And Roll

All of dad's storm windows had a border of felt around the frame, they hooked at the top and when you swung them into place you had to be careful not to ruin the felt strips. We sometimes used a couple of sheets of newspaper as guides on the tighter fitting windows to get them in without damaging th...

Re: HP printer back to its original problem.

If you recall, I managed to get the laser printer replaced, and I thought the new one was working great. It only seemed to work properly, because it printed from a couple of programs as I expected. I don't do much printing, in a whole year I've printed less than 500 pages, which some of those were j...

Re: Rock And Roll

My house in Creve Coeur had Triple-Track Windows, which predated Thermopane as the most efficient type of window system. There were three sheets of glass each in it's own track. Two of them were only about 1/2 inch apart and the one closest to outside was about 3/4 inch away. You did remove the outs...

When I was working I was so organized it made some folks jealous. I had a toolbox for each type of project, which did mean redundant tools in many cases, but it made the work go ten times faster. As an example; I had one toolbox solely for working on door and window repairs, including drilling newly...

Hmm, don't remember the brand anymore, but I did get a cigarette like cigar for a short time. It was about double the diameter of a cigarette, but wasn't black. About the same color as More brand cigarettes.

Seems they now changed their mind again, and downgraded to CAT 1, which means we won't see anything here except a little rain and not more than normal wind.

WE are getting warnings here in Knoxville that the storm is not going to break up after landfall.
They expect we will see heavy rains and high winds and to prepare for it.
Even people who are coming this far inland are saying they expect it to hit hard here too.

I enjoyed the few cigars I smoked, but since I inhaled both cigars and pipes, I figured it was good I cut them out when I did. I don't know much about cigars other than the folks I knew who claimed to smoke cigars never relit them after they went out, yet the cigar would keep getting shorter and sho...

Kohn's Kosher Meats and Deli is right there at 340 and 67, on Old Olive. Pumpernickels is right on 340 west of 67. And Protzel's Market is all the way down in Clayton. There are none right in St. Charles that I know of. My maternal grandfather was the sole caretaker for a 63 acre ranch of all polo p...

Re: Rock And Roll

The house I grew up in had the old wooden window screens and doors. I know the window screen were made of Cypress and had Copper screening. I remember helping dad swap out the screens for the glass every winter, and storing them in the basement. All of the gutters and downspouts on the house were co...
