Re: Microsoft Linux Distro

I ran the numbers once to see how much it would cost me to use Windows and programs similar to what I use almost every day. The amount was a staggering $6,000.00 and even then I wouldn't have all the programs I use. On another note. I did find a Windows Program that uses Bash Commands so I could add...

Re: Microsoft Linux Distro

They already use the Linux Kernel in a lot of things. I guess they finally realized, if they want to make a truly SECURE device, it takes Linux to do so, hi hi. Technically though, it looks like they are building their own miniaturized Azure OS which uses the Linux Kernel, but I wonder how bad they ...

Re: Keeping Current

I agree, not much really is standard anywhere! Nearly every company who published flyers on dodger stock, or dealt with engraved or screen printed plaques, all relied on the old original msWRITE program. msWRITE was the only SCALE-ABLE word processor that ever existed. You could format a document un...

Re: palm oil

I looked at that list, and less than 10% of the names on that list have anything to do with Palm Oil. It's not even used in the process of manufacture of those chemicals. So why are they even on the list?

Re: Keeping Current

Technology does march forward, or so they claim. I think some of it has gone backwards instead of forward. I was able to use a Windows95 & 98 program through XP, but not after that, except in an emulator on Linux. The program was the original Windows WRITE, which had a marvelous global font increase...

Re: Keeping Current

I made the mistake of asking one of the IT guys at Covenant Health, the main company over several hospitals and doctors offices what OS they run on their mainframe? His reply was astounding. He said we run almost all OS's, whatever each department needs is available. But what does the mainframe itse...

Re: Keeping Current

One of our local grocery chains of about six or seven stores is run on the Commercial Red Hat system. They of course pay for a service contract, and have a full-time in-house IT pro who keeps everything humming along. From what it looks like to me, his biggest job is just keeping the prices updated ...

Re: Keeping Current

I never learned php, but even html changed a lot and I had to redo my websites several times. Went from html to xhtml to xhtml/css to mobile friendly xhtml, then on to html5 and mobile friendly html5. So many codes became obsolete between each step, I had to learn it all over again. Of course, betwe...

Re: Goat Rescue

When I was a young tyke, a few farms near us had goats, and some of them would climb up in trees, on top of the sheds, and sometimes up on the beams in the barn. They damaged some of the farming equipment by climbing on them too!

Re: Happy Easter

Telling us kids WHAT it was that caused the awful stink in the house, was not a wise move by the parents. We now had something we could use ourselves with little effort should the need arise. Like inside the air-intake vents at school would be a good place to toss a few, hi hi. This is not an admiss...

Re: Happy Easter

Way way back, when I was around 10 or 11 years old, when my mother packed all the Easter Stuff back into storage in the upstairs hall closet, she accidentally packed a way a decorated hard boiled egg. We all got to sleep downstairs while the exterminator she called was looking for a dead rat in the ...

Re: Peeling Off

Jon Gnagy first aired in 1946, the first transmission on the new Channel 4 tower atop the Empire State Building in NY. After syndication, his show aired on NBC I think it was from 1950 to 1960. 13 years on the air! His shows were all in Black and White, and he explained the colors he used and blende...

Now that was cool! (The last link)
I followed the road all the way out past the farm lands.
Up and down a few streets, plus the street with the tree in the middle of the road, hi hi.
