Re: Adaptive Advertising (again)

Forgot to mention. I used to have a program on my XP machine that told me WHERE every single file was placed on my computer when I installed a new program. Or even used a test version of the program. You would not believe the hundreds of places a program writes to when you take one for a trial run w...

Re: Adaptive Advertising (again)

Well, if I recall, after we deleted the image file, we also ran a program that looked for missing files. In other words, files that program may have needed to run. Or files that are not associated with any other program. Deleting them is sometimes risky, because they are there for games you may load...

Re: What's In An iPhone

Radica is who made the ones I liked best, but some of their latest designs were horrible.
Haven't seen anyone selling them at the local stores. They do have some hand-held games, but not the kind that appeal to adults.

Re: The End is Near

I've made three quilts from start to finish by myself. One of them had numerous 3-D appliques too. Ironic too, I did them while living in a small apartment. My quilting frame was suspended from the ceiling using four pulleys, and two bracer bars with rubber tips to hold it stead between the walls wh...

Re: Fire and Ice

Yes, there is only one image done in vector graphics for each item. And the location we place it is stored by the pixel location, the time we placed it, and in the case of a crop, when it expires and dies, hi hi. If you picture a tic-tac-toe board in your head, the whole tic-tac-toe board is the ima...

Re: Ski By Fire

We had a water filter here, not whole house, that uses a sediment filter, a heavy metals filter, a UV cylinder, and it injects ozone in the line before the water moves through the final compressed carbon filter. We used it about eight years before the cost of the filters got more than I wanted to pa...

Re: The End is Near

It's not on my current XP machine which was a hand-me-down, so I don't remember the name of it. But it was a really great program for converting image files. But now that I think about it, I have a hunch after I got my new hi-res scanner, it could not handle images over a certain size. I'm still bef...

Re: What's In An iPhone

I guess the way of stand-alone hand-held games has almost gone by the wayside since the advent of Schmartz-Fones. I never like trying to play a game on my little Flip-Fone. But the frau has a fairly large touch-screen on hers, so she can play a couple of games on her's while sprinkling the China God...

Re: Happy Birthday WWW

OK, Gotcha on what is happening now. I do know when I get a Source Code it has to be compiled to use on my computer. But by the same token, it seems once I have it compiled I can use it on all of my computers. Maybe not? It could be I've only used it on the AMD computers and not tried it on an Intel...

Re: Adaptive Advertising (again)

The frau got a nasty virus on her computer a few months back, and we figured out exactly where it came from too. It was embedded in an image file she downloaded from a website. Although she uses a virus detection program, apparently they only work if they know the name of the virus as a download. By...

Re: And the Scams Go On

We used Plastic Owls, but they had to have real glass eyes, not painted plastic eyes. In other words, they were not the decorative kind, but the functional kind who's head could move a little in the wind, and they really did look real, even up close. If a plastic owl was 5 bucks, then these function...

Yes, it was an excellent move on their part to keep the taste uniform. But then, unfortunately, it does not apply to fountain soda, where they can fiddle with the machines settings, and they only use carbon filters for the water. When I worked at the Drive-In theater when I was around 14 years old. ...

You sure have a knack of making things make sense! Back when I was working in the graphics department for a small newspaper, all of our work was done using photography. Let's take a car dealers ad as an example. Our Base Image was that of the storefront, that's it, no cars or people visible. Next we...

I'm sure even the slow paced simple game of Farm Town I play is quite complex. I can go to any players farm and do work on their farm if they ask, and sometimes there may be four or more people on that persons farm all harvesting crops at the same time. It used to be you could go off-line and do the...

Re: Ski By Fire

I went through a Georgia Pacific paper plant once, but only in the tour hall, not where the work was going on. It was just a long hall in each building with windows so you could stand and watch the machines and workers adding the ingredients. There was a video first that showed some of the things th...

Re: And the Scams Go On

I had a big problem with squirrels at my Creve Coeur home. They would chew around the soffit vents until they could get in the attic, and you wouldn't believe the damage they did up there, or the wiring they chewed up. My mom used to carry a little garden snake in her pocket when she was young, said...

Re: Adaptive Advertising (again)

It seems with all the technology we do have in the computing world. Things like malware, trojans, and ransomware would be discovered immediately before they could be transferred on to someones computer. After all, for the file to get uploaded to the server to a persons file, it has to be read and st...

Re: Happy Birthday WWW

I don't use the web page making programs. I literally write my own HTML pages using a plain text editor like GEdit. I've tried things like BlueFish and others, and although they do make it easier, they add a lot of stuff to the pages I don't want there. When I first changed from HTML to XHTML/CSS al...
